New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (knee) said he hopes to be ready for the start of training camp.
Huddle Up: Michel could be limited during the early portion of camp but should be fully healthy for the start of the regular season. He is coming off an impressive rookie season and likely will be a No. 2 fantasy running back in 2019.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman had a rift with his father, Frank Edelman, resulting from his four-game PED suspension in 2018. 'Frank was very upset,' Angie Edelman, Julian's mother, said in the Julian Edelman documentary that debuted Friday, via Boston.com. 'Jules didn't want his dad a part of this process. He was handling it with his attorneys, and my husband doesn't understand that sometimes.' 'Me and my dad talk every day,' Edelman said. 'And after that, we didn't talk for a while (81 days).'
Huddle Up: In missing four games, Edelman still averaged 17 PPR fantasy points per game last season -- 14th among WRs. He's stronger WR2 fantasy option this year with no looming suspension and no Gronk to share targets with as Tom Brady's top weapon.

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (knee) has been working out at QB Tom Brady's TB12 training facility this offseason while recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery in hopes of becoming a more explosive runner.
Huddle Up: Michel, a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, will be competing for work with James White, Rex Burkhead, and 2019 third-rounder Damien Harris in 2019. Michel projects to lead the backfield after racking up 981 yards from scrimmage and six total touchdowns last season, but he'll be a risky pick in New England's constantly shuffling rotation.

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (knee) missed some offseason workouts because he recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery, according to a source. He is expected to be ready for training camp.
Huddle Up: Michel may be eased into training camp but should be fine for the start of the regular season. He likely will receive most of the carries in the running game and can be a No. 2 running back in most fantasy leagues.

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (unknown) has missed all three days of the team's minicamp this week with no explanation from the team. One beat reporter believes the team is simply managing the workload for Michel, who has had a history of knee issues dating back through his time at Georgia.
Huddle Up: Michel missed three games last season with knee problems but enjoyed a standout run through the postseason with 345 yards and six TDs in three games. James White, Rex Burkhead and rookie Damien Harris also are in the mix, but Michel is still regarded as a low-end RB2.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said 'I hope I can play that long,' when asked Thursday, June 6, is he still wants to play until he's 45.
Huddle Up: While the end result was another Lombardi Trophy, Brady slipped to 14th among fantasy quarterbacks last season with long-time top weapon Rob Gronkowski struggling last season, and now that Gronk's gone, regard the-soon-to-be 42-year-old Brady as a mid-level QB2 in fantasy drafts.

New England Patriots RBs Sony Michel and Damien Harris are competing for lead-back duties with James White locked into his role and Rex Burkhead likely viewed as a jack-of-all-trades, change-of-pace runner, according to Kevin Duffy of the Boston Herald.
Huddle Up: It doesn't come as a surprise Michel and Harris are the main candidates for the lead role, but Duffy appears to believe Harris will get a fair chance to win the job, although he admits both backs will get carries. Michel is the more talented back of the two, but Duffy points out he didn't do much in terms of explosive runs (four carries of 20-plus yards as a rookie) or in the passing game (seven catches), so there is potential - albeit slight - for Harris to find a niche if he shows well in camp.

New England Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett 'seems like a logical fit' for the No. 3 receiver role in 2019, according to Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston.
Huddle Up: Dorsett possesses big-play speed, but he's never been able to translate his physical gifts into consistent production on the field. That being said, Julian Edelman is currently the only proven target among New England's receivers, so Dorsett would be worth a speculative add late in drafts if he secures a spot as a top-three receiver.

New England Patriots TE Benjamin Watson said he will be suspended for the first four games of the 2019 season because he failed a drug test this offseason.
Huddle Up: Watson probably will in line for the starting job but will now have to miss the first month of the season. He can still be a No. 2 tight end in some fantasy leagues. Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be the starter while Watson is out but is not a great fantasy option.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, 41, is the oldest player on a team that features a league-most 15 players at least 30 years old.
Huddle Up: Brady is still playing like a player in his prime, but fantasy-wise, he has slipped in recent seasons, finishing 14th or lower among fantasy QBs in two of the last three seasons. Now, one of his old reliables in TE Rob Gronkowski is gone. Value him as a mid-level QB2.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has been working out with WRs Julian Edelman and N'Keal Harry this offseason.
Huddle Up: Brady is not participating in offseason workouts but is able to work with his newest receiver. Brady and Edelman will be weekly starting options in fantasy leagues in 2019, while Harry could be a No. 4 fantasy receiver that starts against favorable matchups.

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel didn't participate in the team's OTA workouts Thursday, May 23, and one team beat writer says it's possible that the team is limiting Michel's offseason workload.
Huddle Up: Michel matched his 13-game regular-season TD total (six) in three playoff games as he enjoyed a strong postseason. Despite the addition of third-round RB Damien Harris, Michel should be drafted as a solid RB2.

New England Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett worked with the first-team offense during positional drills in OTAs Thursday, May 23.
Huddle Up: Dorsett has a shot to secure a starting spot across from Julian Edelman, so he's a player worth keeping an eye on. If he breaks camp as a top-three receiver, he will be worth a flier in the later rounds.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman received a two-year extension Tuesday, May 21. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Huddle Up: The Super Bowl MVP turns 33 Wednesday and receives a nice birthday gift. He had a 74-850-6 season in 12 games last season. In PPR leagues he is a very solid WR2 with some injury risk. His tendency to catch an abundance of short passes shines in PPR.

Free-agent TE Benjamin Watson (Saints) reportedly agreed to terms with the New England Patriots - the team that made him a first-round pick in 2004 - one a one-year contract worth up to $3 million on Thursday, May 9, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Huddle Up: That escalated quickly. Reports surfaced this morning that Watson had decided to un-retire and visit New England, so it looks like it only took a few hours at most to hammer something out. Now 38 years old, Watson isn't going to set the world on fire and fill the void left behind by Rob Gronkowski, but he could give Austin Seferian-Jenkins a run for his money and be worth using a matchup-based play in fantasy this season.

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead is trying a new approach this offseason after missing 14 of 32 regular-season games the past two seasons. 'You learn from your experiences from the past, and also from some of the older guys,' Burkhead said Tuesday, May 7. 'Like Matthew Slater, he's been in it for awhile now and how he takes care of his body. There are things. I remember my rookie year, I think I took one week off and then I was right back in it, hard core lifting right after the season. You learn that is not the best way to go about it. Your body takes time to recover, mentally, physically and there's some little things you can pick up too, whether that is yoga or pilates, things like that just to make sure your body is in the best shape possible. When you make it far you really have to stay on top of that, especially here, you understand your body is your temple and it's your line of work.'
Huddle Up: Burkhead had a more productive postseason (141 total yards, three TDs in three games) than regular season (317 yards, one TD in eight games) last season, but the RB picture in New England has only grown cloudier this offseason with the selection of Alabama RB Damien Harris in the third round. And with Sony Michel and James White also in the mix, Burkhead is nothing more than a late-round flyer in drafts.

New England Patriots RB James White is focused on improving his game, he said Thursday, May 2. 'Even though you have some success, there's still plenty of mistakes that you make out there,' White said. 'So there's always room for improvement, always ways to get better, always more yards to get. So you get in with the coaches, see what you can improve and find ways to get better. Whether it's running better routes, having no drops or having better run reads, there's always a little bit of things you can improve on.'
Huddle Up: White is coming off a huge season, hitting career highs with 1,176 yards and 12 TDs and finishing seventh among fantasy backs in PPR formats. Second-year RB Sony Michel, though, figures to be healthier and the Pats did spend a third-round pick on Alabama's Damien Harris, so don't be surprised if White slips a bit and finishes as a low-end RB2.

Free-agent TE Benjamin Watson (Saints) is considering a return in 2019, according to sources, after previously stating 2018 would be his last year. Watson, whose wife is due to deliver twins next week, could return for his 16th NFL season 'under the right situation.'
Huddle Up: Watson isn't much of a fantasy asset at 38 years old, but a potential return to the Rob Gronkowski-less New England Patriots may give him matchup utility.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady tied Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes with nine big-time throws on third-and-long situations in 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.
Huddle Up: Not too shabby for age 41, but on the flip side, Brady has finished as a top-12 fantasy quarterback in only one of the last three seasons and should be valued as a high-end QB2 entering drafts this summer.

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR Demaryius Thomas (Texans) signed a one-year contract worth up to $6 million with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, April 16.
Huddle Up: NFL Network's James Palmer is reporting that Thomas is expected to be available sooner than most believe, in part because offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who drafted Thomas in 2010 while in Denver, saw his former first-round pick overcome the same injury in six months. If that scenario plays out, then it is possible the Patriots may have found an outside receiver capable of giving them roughly what Chris Hogan did. It's also very possible he doesn't make the roster.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is not expected to report to offseason conditioning this week, but he's rumored to have bulked up this offseason.
Huddle Up: Brady was a solid QB1 last season, but the revolving door of parts around him have hindered his numbers. He's an upper-middle QB1 in fantasy this year.

Free-agent PK Stephen Gostkowski (Patriots) was re-signed to a two-year deal by the New England Patriots Tuesday, April 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Gostkowskis is a perennial No. 1 fantasy kicker for one of the top offenses in the NFL. That status won't change even at 35 years old.

Free-agent PK Stephen Gostkowski and his negotiations with the New England Patriots are quiet at the moment, a source said Tuesday, April 2. Money is an issue between the two sides, the source added, but there is still ample time to get a deal done.
Huddle Up: Despite reports of outside interest, look for Gostkowski to return for a 14th season in New England. He's ranked in the top 10 in scoring in all but two of his first 13 seasons, and he'll remain one of the first fantasy kickers to go off the board as long as he has a Patriot decal on his helmet.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady appears likely to skip the voluntary workouts this offseason like he did last year.
Huddle Up: Brady has lost some pass catchers this offseason but still has a solid group of receivers to work with next season. He can still be considered a No. 1 quarterback in most leagues in 2019.

Free-agent PK Stephen Gostkowski (Patriots) is making progress in contract talks with the New England Patriots. Gostkowski has also received interest from other teams.
Huddle Up: Gostkowski struggled at times this past season but still can be a weekly starting option in all fantasy leagues.

Free-agent WR Phillip Dorsett (Patriots) agreed to terms a new one-year deal with the New England Patriots, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Dorsett could receive a bigger role in the passing game depending on if the team is able to re-sign Chris Hogan. He posted 290 yards and three touchdowns this past season but could be a late-round option in deeper leagues depending on his role.
