Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said he has not started contract extension talks with the Cowboys at this point but has talked to owner/general manager Jerry Jones about his contract situation.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players can monitor the situation to see if Prescott received a new contract, but he will be the Cowboys starter for at least one more season. He has played very well over the last few seasons and can be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Free-agent RB Royce Freeman (Rams) signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys Tuesday, April 16, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: The Cowboys do not have a clear starter at running back, so Freeman may have the chance to compete for the job during training camp. His fantasy value will be determined by his role in the offense if he makes the team.

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb isn't expected to report to voluntary offseason workouts Monday, April 15, as he seeks a new contract.
Huddle Up: Lamb was the top wideout in fantasy last year. He balled out with a 135-1,749-12 season and added two scores on the ground. He'll be off the board early in the first round of drafts.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and the team reportedly have a "mutual understanding of his contract situation," according to sources. Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Dallas has had talks with Prescott but has not presented Prescott with an offer, nor is there any indication one is in the works.
Huddle Up: Entering the final year of his current contract, Prescott's cap number is a gargantuan $55.455 million, so the team should be motivated to extend him. However, the Cowboys appear to be about as interested in doing an extension with Prescott as they were about getting even moderately involved in free agency. With head coach Mike McCarthy also entering his walk year, Dallas may be looking to hit the reset button after this year if the team fails to live up to expectations again.

Free-agent RB Rico Dowdle (Cowboys) signed with the Dallas Cowboys Monday, March 18. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Dowdle may be the leading candidate for the starting job at this point, but the Cowboys likely will add to the position in free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft. His fantasy value will depend on how big his offensive role will be in 2024.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott converted $5 million of a roster bonus into a signing bonus Sunday, March 17, to create $4 million of salary cap relief. The move reduced Prescott's salary cap number to $55.455 million, and two extra void years were added to the deal for cap purposes through 2028.
Huddle Up: Prescott was the QB3 in fantasy last year, and he really didn't get a lot of fanfare for it. He'll be 31 this season and has a lot of questions about his future with the team. There should be no questions about his merit as a QB you should target in the upper-middle portion of QB1s.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said there is a possibility that QB Dak Prescott could play out his current deal instead of having his contract extended in order to lower his salary cap hit for 2024. Prescott has no-tag and no-trade clauses so he could become a free agent after the 2024 season if he does not agree to an extension.
Huddle Up: In another scenario, the Cowboys could restructure Prescott's deal to create $18.52 million of salary cap space for 2024 but it would mean deferring money until the 2025 and 2026 seasons, with Prescott counting nearly $55 million against the cap in 2025 even if he is playing for another team. He is one of the league's better quarterbacks and should be viewed as a QB1 option in all fantasy formats in 2024.

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb said he hopes to become the highest-paid receiver or one the highest-paid receivers in the NFL with his next contract.
Huddle Up: Lamb ranked in the top-five in receptions (135), receiving yards (1,749) and receiving touchdowns (12) this season and has been one of the better receivers in the NFL since joining the league. He should receive an extension at some point and will be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues.

Huddle Up: Vaughn will take the place of Rico Dowdle (ankle), who is out. Vaughn is 5-foot-6 and 176 pounds, so he's not going to be running between the tackles but could be used as a gadget. If you have Pollard, he could be worth handcuffing to him. He's not worth starting against the Washington Commanders.

Dallas Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks (rest) was listed as a limited participant at practice Tuesday, Dec. 26. The Cowboys conducted a walkthrough so participation levels are estimations.
Huddle Up: Cooks would have been limited in a real practice simply due to rest so he should be able to play in Week 17. He's a boom/bust WR3 option against the Detroit Lions and an intriguing DFS play.
