Detroit Lions TE Cole Wick, an undrafted rookie from the University of Incarnate Word, ran with the first-team offense Monday, Aug. 8, in the place of injured Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle). The 6-6, 257-pound Wick has improved throughout the offseason and has caught the ball well. 'He's growing,' head coach Jim Caldwell said. 'Last spring I thought he caught onto things fairly well, and now we have a lot more information going in, it happened a lot faster. But I think he's hanging in there, he's working at it and doing a good job.'

Huddle Up: Training-camp rookie hype certainly isn't in short supply this time of year, but the persistent rave reviews surrounding Wick combined with Ebron's ankle sprain make the tight end someone to definitely keep an eye on if you're looking to take a late-round flyer at the position.

Detroit Lions TE Cole Wick looked 'spectacular' in offseason practices and could be in line to push TE Eric Ebron for a starting job if he can carry over that momentum into training camp, according to Detroit Free Press reporter Carlos Monarrez.

Huddle Up: Wick is a name to remember in dynasty drafts to be sure, but if nothing else, the offseason showing of the undrafted rookie should be lighting a fire under the first-round pick Ebron, who had his moments last season with 47 catches for 537 yards and five TDs but has yet to develop into the over-the-middle threat the Lions drafted him to be.
