The Detroit Lions expect second-year TE T.J. Hockenson, according to The Detroit News' Justin Rogers, to take a big step forward in 2020. Hockenson exploded onto the scene during Week 1 last year, catching six passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. After that, he and TE Jesse James combined for just 42 catches, 378 yards and one score. Detroit offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will need to find a way to make Hockenson a bigger factor while also utilizing James in a complementary role.
Huddle Up: Hockenson, 6-foot-5 and 247 pounds, has the makings for an elite option, but it may take time. He had a 32-367-2 line last year, while starting seven games and being limited to 12 overall due to injury. If James plays a larger role, it likely will come at the expense of Hockenson's numbers. Hockenson is a borderline TE1 on potential.

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson is considered the leading candidate to start at tight end this upcoming season, but he likely will be sharing playing time with TE Jesse James.
Huddle Up: Hockenson likely will be a weapon in the red zone, but fantasy players will need to monitor him during training camp and the preseason. He has a chance to be a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson is likely to be a co-starter in Week 1 with TE Jesse James, in the opinion of beat writer Kyle Meinke
Huddle Up: Hockenson has some TE2 upside, but he has a limited forecast early on if he's sharing time.

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent TE Jesse James agreed to a four-year, $25 million deal with the Detroit Lions, according to a source. He will receive $11 million fully guaranteed.

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent TE Jesse James plans to sign with the Detroit Lions, according to a source. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: James is a solid tight end and likely will compete for the starting job next season. He posted 423 yards and two touchdowns this past season but should see more targets with the Lions. He probably should be considered a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.

The Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly very interested in Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James, who is expected to become a free agent next month, according to DraftAnalyst.com's Tony Pauline.
Huddle Up: Pittsburgh is interested in signing the 24-year-old James to a contract extension but he currently appears as the Steelers' No. 2 option at tight end on their depth chart behind Vance McDonald, so it wouldn't be surprising if he takes his talents elsewhere. If he winds up with a starting role in 2019, he should be viewed as a low-end TE1.
