Los Angeles Rams QB Carson Wentz completed 17-of-24 passes for 163 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 18 against the San Francisco 49ers, while running 17 times for a game-high 56 yards and a touchdown.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford will not play in Week 18 and QB Carson Wentz will start in his place, according to sources on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
Huddle Up: Stafford will get a breather ahead of the playoffs, which is unfortunate for fantasy owners depending on him, as the veteran signal-caller has ranked as QB6 overall since Week 12. Wentz will be a boom-or-bust QB2.

The Los Angeles Rams signed free-agent QB Carson Wentz (Commanders) on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
Posted: 11/07/2023 7:37 pm GMT
Free-agent QB Carson Wentz (Commanders) reportedly agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Huddle Up: It is extremely rare for a quarterback with Wentz's experience to sign with a team this late in the season, but the Rams probably felt as if they had little choice after seeing what Brett Rypien did as a replacement for the injured Matthew Stafford (thumb) in Week 9. Stafford is expected to return following the team's Week 10 bye, so Wentz is being added for depth for now. Given Stafford's injury history, however, there is a possibility that Wentz will make a start or two down the stretch.

Free-agent QB Carson Wentz (Commanders) and QB Matt Ryan (Colts) recently contacted the New York Jets about the possibility of joining the team, but the Jets declined the offer, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.

Free-agent QB Carson Wentz (Commanders) plans to play this upcoming season and is waiting for the right situation. He has been throwing and studying film with former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden in Tampa.

Free-agent QB Carson Wentz "would seem to be the best option" for the Las Vegas Raiders if they are forced to move on from Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) because he is unable to pass a physical this summer, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Paul Gutierrez.
Huddle Up: Gutierrez cites Wentz's familiarity with new pass game coordinator Scott Turner as one of the reasons why this could happen. With that said, we are still a long way away from this potential doomsday scenario playing out for the Raiders. Head coach Josh McDaniels has yet to express any concern regarding his new quarterback's recovery, and it's not as if fantasy managers should be lining up to draft either one of the signal-callers outside of two-quarterback or superflex leagues anyway.

Free-agent QB Carson Wentz (Commanders) has been working out this offseason and is receiving interest from a few teams. He is open to both starter and backup roles and may not sign with a team until later in the offseason.

Free-agent QB Carson Wentz (Commanders) plans to continue his playing career and is open to various roles in order to help a team.
Huddle Up: Wentz probably will not be able to find a starting job for a team but likely can be a backup quarterback for several teams. He can be avoided in fantasy leagues unless he becomes a starter.

Washington Commanders QB Carson Wentz was released Monday, Feb. 27.
Huddle Up: Per ESPN's Field Yates, Washington will clear $26,176,470 in cap space by releasing Wentz. The move leaves expected starter Sam Howell and impending free-agent Taylor Heinicke as the only quarterbacks on the current roster. Wentz is almost certain to land on his feet somewhere, but his career is very much at a crossroads having already played for three teams in the last three years. It is quite likely he will have to settle for a backup job for the foreseeable future.
