Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) is "doing a fantastic job with his rehab" and should be able to move from the conditioning phase of his rehab to some pre-football activity in April, according to general manager Andrew Berry. "As we think about it, until we see him in the next couple of months, I think the next - call it three - months will be pretty telling in terms of his potential readiness for early in the season. We're going to be conservative in terms of our approach in our assessment with building the roster because (Chubb is) coming off of a major knee injury. But I do have to give him a lot of credit. He's done a really, really nice job. But I think we'll have a better sense. Don't hold me to it, but I think probably if you ask me that question around the draft, I may have maybe a little bit more of a specific answer," Berry said.
Huddle Up: Berry suggested that while the hope is Chubb (who underwent one surgery in late September and a second surgery on Nov. 14) is ready to go by Week 1, that timeline is fluid. He also noted that the additions of Nyheim Hines and D'Onta Foreman in free agency were less about Chubb and more about roster building. Given the seriousness of his injury, fantasy managers would be wise to not count on him for Week 1, nor should they expect him to be his usual self early in the season. As such, he should probably be viewed as a high-upside RB3 in early drafts until further notice.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) is not in the team's plans to release in the offseason.
Huddle Up: A report came out a few days ago that he could be cut in the offseason, but one of the team's primary beat writers has shot that notion down. Chubb had a catastrophic knee injury last year, and the 28-year-old may not be his prolific self until the second half of the season. Buyer beware, but he's a low-end RB1 option if he's healthy enough to start the season.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) underwent his scheduled second surgery on Tuesday, Nov. 14, to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to performing surgeon James Voos, Chubb has "progressed very well" following his first surgery in late September and should be able to return to play during the 2024 season.
Huddle Up: It is far too early to know if Chubb has any chance to make it back in time for the opener next year, but the mere fact that is even a possibility at this point is amazing. For now, dynasty managers should proceed as if Chubb will return at some point after the start of next season. For the rest of the 2023 season, however, Jerome Ford appears to be the clear lead back in Cleveland and a solid RB2 option. Kareem Hunt has moved into more of a breather back who will vulture touchdowns from Ford at the goal line.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) reportedly started lifting weights again recently, according to a source. Per the source, Chubb is keeping the workouts limited to his upper body and still awaiting surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Huddle Up: Yes, he is still done for the year, but Chubb is just built different. While fantasy managers would love if he already had the surgery and was rehabbing his knee, it is still a great sign that he has already been given the green light to work in any capacity. Given the seriousness of his injury, Chubb may be hard-pressed to return to the field by Week 1 next season. However, he is one player worth betting on to beat a recovery timeline given his history.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) underwent successful surgery to repair his torn meniscus and MCL, but it was discovered during surgery that he'll also need surgery to repair his ACL, according to sources Saturday, Sept. 30. He's expected to recover in time to return during the 2024 season.
Huddle Up: This could very well add extra time to his recovery, and multi-ligament tears are more difficult to come back from. It isn't clear when the surgery will be, but this certainly lowers his value in dynasty leagues.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) could potentially need two surgeries to address the knee injuries he suffered in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a source via Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. The first surgery could reportedly happen within the next seven to 10 days, while the second surgery would occur several weeks after.
Huddle Up: Chubb faces a long road to recovery, but the potential silver lining is that he tore three ligaments, a knee dislocation and suffered cartilage damage in the same knee in college during the 2015 season and was able to recover from that. There is some speculation that Chubb may need up to 15 months to recover, which is obviously bad news for a running back set to turn 28 years old in December. Chubb's workouts are the stuff of legend, so the fantasy world can only hope that his work ethic allows him to return to the field at some point in 2024. Cleveland will turn to Jerome Ford to fill the sizeable void he leaves behind.

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) is expected to miss the rest of the 2023 season due to the knee injury he suffered in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, Sept. 18. He was carted off, and head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed after the game that Chubb is expected to be out for the season, although he did not get into details of the injury. Chubb is expected to have an MRI on Tuesday, Sept. 19, which will provide more details.
Huddle Up: With Chubb done for the season, it appears Jerome Ford will be the next man up for the Browns. He had 16 carries for 106 yards once Chubb went down. The team also has Pierre Strong Jr. on the roster. It is possible the team could put in a call to former Browns tailback, and still current free-agent, Kareem Hunt, who the team knows well. It's a devastating blow for one of the good guys in the NFL, and it's tough for fantasy managers who used an early round pick for just about six quarters of return.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) was carted off the field after suffering a knee injury during the Week 2 game and has been ruled out.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see how long Chubb will be sidelined. Jerome Ford likely will be the main running back for now if Chubb misses time, but the team may look to add another back. Ford can be at least a flex option if he handles the starting job.
