Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman said the team will be looking for a better running game next season, which should help QB Justin Herbert's play.
Huddle Up: The Chargers may have a new starting running back next season, so fantasy players should keep an eye on the situation during the offseason. Herbert will continue to be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback and could see a increase in his value if he has more time to throw the ball.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a broken right index finger on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Huddle Up: Easton Stick will replace Herbert as the starter, as he did in Week 14. Max Duggan will back him up. With Herbert done for the year, it is fair to wonder if the Chargers will be conservative in their usage of their other offensive stars down the stretch. For example, it makes little sense to ask Keenan Allen to continue to push through his injuries when he is working with a backup quarterback and the team has little to play for - other than worsening their draft position next spring.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) will miss the rest of the season after surgery to repair a broken right index finger.
Huddle Up: Easton Stick will be the guy, and the Chargers' position players will lose some luster outside of Austin Ekeler and Gerald Everett. Ekeler and Everett could see more short-to-mid-yardage targets. Stick is a QB2 that maybe could be used in a great matchup if he meshes well within the offense. The Las Vegas Raiders are a midrange matchup this week.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) is likely to undergo surgery on his fractured finger Tuesday, Dec. 12, according to a source. The team will determine after the surgery if Herbert has a chance to play again this season.
Huddle Up: Herbert probably will miss a few games, but fantasy players will know more about the situation in the next few days. Easton Stick is in line to be the starting quarterback but does not have much fantasy value.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) is scheduled to meet with two hand specialists to determine the severity of his fractured finger, according to head coach Brandon Staley. The team will have a timetable after they receive the information from the visits.
Huddle Up: It seems like Herbert will miss at least one game because of the injury and could miss more time depending on the severity of the injury. Easton Stick will be the starter while Herbert is sidelined but should be avoided in all leagues.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) did not participate in practice Monday, Dec. 11. The Chargers did not hold a practice Monday, so this is an estimation.
Huddle Up: Herbert is not expected to play in the Week 15 game, but fantasy players can check in a few days to see if anything changes. Easton Stick will receive the start if Herbert is ruled out but should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) is likely out for Week 15 Thursday, Dec. 14.
Huddle Up: Easton Stick went 13-for-24 for 179 yards, no TDs and no INTs after Herbert went down. He'll be a middling QB2 against the Las Vegas Raiders Thursday night. Hold on to Herbert because there's a chance he could return this season.

Updating earlier reports, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) is scheduled for an MRI on Monday, Dec. 11, on his fractured right index finger to establish a time frame for his injury and whether he'll be able to return this season.
Huddle Up: Given where LA is in the standings, a return from Herbert seems equal parts unlikely and unwarranted. Obviously, there's nothing to be lost by waiting for official word, but don't be surprised if we don't see Herbert until next September. Easton Stick is in line to start.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) suffered a fractured right index finger in the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos, head coach Brandon Staley said Sunday, Dec. 10. Herbert is out indefinitely.
Huddle Up: With Herbert on the shelf, it's appears the team will have to rely upon QB Easton Stick in Week 15, unless the team elects to look outside of the organization. Fantasy managers will need to make alternate plans at a very difficult time of the schedule, as we get ready for the fantasy playoffs.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) has been downgraded from questionable to out for the rest of the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos due to a finger injury on his throwing hand. He completed 9-of-17 passes for 96 yards, no touchdowns and an interception before departing.
Huddle Up: With Herbert done for the day, backup QB Easton Stick will take over for the second half of the Week 14 game. Stick had his first completing of 2023, and his first pass attempt since completing a single pass in 2020, the only one of his career.
