Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden (toe) returned to practice on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Huddle Up: Golden is in with Christian Watson and Jayden Reed competing for targets in the Packers' offense. Golden has some ground to make up behind both of them, as they were given contract extensions showing the team is fully invested in them. Golden could be a bench stash in case of injury or a flex play in deeper leagues.

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden (toe) did not take part in a closed indoor practice Sunday, Aug. 9, due to a toe injury. Head coach Matt LaFleur said that the injury is not a long-term concern.
Huddle Up: Golden is trying to win the No. 2 receiver job in a training camp battle with Jayden Reed. If Golden ends up starting opposite Christian Watson, he should have some value as a WR4 or flex option in leagues of 12 or more teams. Otherwise, he is worth a look as a late-round flier for depth at the position.

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden is set to "step cleanly" into the role that current New England Patriots WR Romeo Doubs filled for the Packers last season, according to ESPN's Ben Solak, who notes that with Doubs and Philadelphia Eagles WR Dontayvion Wicks gone, there are 131 targets that are available to be filled this year.
Huddle Up: Unlike recent seasons, the Packers have a clear-cut top three with Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Golden. Doubs easily led the team in targets a year ago, and if Golden is truly sliding into that specific role, he could have some untapped upside -- certainly on paper, Golden, a first-round pick in 2025, has more physical talent than Doubs, a former fourth-rounder. If you can grab Golden as a WR4, he might be comfortably outperform that designation.

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden will receive a bigger role in the offense this upcoming season and should see an increase in his production, according to offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich.
Huddle Up: The Packers traded Dontayvion Wicks this offseason, so Golden should be one of the top-three receivers for the team. He can be considered a later round option in drafts but can become at least a No. 4 receiver in fantasy leagues.

"But when he did, he performed, and he performed at a high level," Gutekunst said. "I'm really excited to see where he goes in Year 2. I think his ceiling is very, very high."
Huddle Up: With Dontayvion Wicks and Romeo Doubs no longer in the picture, Golden should have every opportunity improve on his rookie numbers, especially if he can stay healthy. He will be worth a look as a high-upside WR4 in 2026.

Huddle Up: Golden had a hard time finding his footing in the Packers' deep wide receiver room in 2025. With 2026 being his second year in the league, and roster moves expected, he could see the larger target share that is being projected. Until the depth chart settles down, though, he remains a flex play or WR3 in deeper leagues at most.

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love completed 24 of his 46 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns and added an 11-yard run in a 31-27 loss to the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card playoff game. RB Josh Jacobs rushed 19 times for 55 yards and caught a three-yard pass, and RB Emanuel Wilson was given just one carry for three yards. WR Romeo Doubs finished with eight receptions for a team-high 124 yards and a score, and WR Matthew Golden had four receptions for 84 yards and caught his first career touchdown. WR Jayden Reed had four catches for 43 yards and a score and chipped in a 14-yard run, and WR Christian Watson finished with three grabs for 36 yards and a score. TE Luke Musgrave was limited to one catch for nine yards. LB Edgerrin Cooper had a team-high eight tackles, including six solo stops, and a pass defensed, and S Evan Williams logged seven tackles, including six solo stops.
