Huddle Up: Dowdle likely will continue to be part of a committee at running back for the time being but has a chance to earn more touches if he continues to be productive. He could be a possible flex option in deeper leagues this week.

Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle is expected to receive fewer snaps on special teams in 2024 due to the expected increased workload he will get on offense, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
Huddle Up: The Cowboys' backfield figures to be a headache for fantasy managers to figure out this season. McCarthy has suggested all offseason that he expects to use a committee - one that became even less clear following the recent addition of Dalvin Cook. It is clear from this announcement that Dallas intends to have Dowdle serve as a 1B back at worst, making him worthy of a bench spot in most 12-team leagues.

Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle "has to be the favorite to lead the team in rushing" this season, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Huddle Up: While Dowdle will likely have a role in the offense, he will probably have to supplant Ezekiel Elliott to become the No. 1 back in Dallas. That being said, Dowdle is worth stashing in case Elliott suffers an injury or doesn't have anything left in the tank as the season goes on.

Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle reportedly has a very good chance of being the "RB1 favorite" this season, according to multiple sources close to the team.
Huddle Up: It seems unlikely that Dowdle will be able to force a split in touches with Ezekiel Elliott, but it does seem likely that Dowdle will handle more than the 89 carries and 17 receptions - both career highs - that he amassed in 2023. Dowdle should be considered a RB4 at worst and could have flex value even if Elliott manages to play all 17 games.
