Cleveland Browns QBs Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders each received plenty of touches during the team's recent minicamp and all performed well in various situations, according to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.
Huddle Up: While a close competition is usually a pleasant problem for any coach to deal with, it doesn't provide much clarity to the Browns' quarterback situation from a fantasy standpoint. Flacco and Pickett should have a slight edge for the job due to their prior NFL experience, while Gabriel and Sanders merit consideration as roster options for owners in dynasty formats. Whoever wins the starting job should be viewed as a QB2 option in fantasy leagues, although they might not have much margin for error.

Cleveland Browns QBs Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel are all believed to be candidates for the starting quarterback job, and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees said he could see any of the four to win the job at this point.
Huddle Up: Pickett and Flacco have seen most of the work with the first-team offense during offseason workouts, so they may have an edge over the rookie quarterbacks. Fantasy players can monitor the situation during training camp but should consider the winner of the job as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Cleveland Browns third-round draft choice QB Dillon Gabriel signed a four-year contract with the Browns Wednesday, June 4. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cleveland Browns third-round draft choice QB Dillon Gabriel "does not look like an NFL quarterback," according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson. "Dillon Gabriel does not look like an NFL quarterback to me. ... I just don't think any other team was taking him in the top-100 or even the top-150. If I am wrong and the Cleveland Browns have their quarterback, that would be great. One of these years, I would love to cover a normal franchise and a rookie quarterback that sticks around for more than 6-to-18 months. But if it's Dillon Gabriel, I will be beyond shocked," Jackson told Zach Gelb of the Infinity Sports Network.
Huddle Up: Gabriel was a surprise third-round pick in April in large part because he is a bit of an older prospect (24) who fails to meet the usual size and weight requirements for an NFL quarterback at 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds. With that said, he enters the league after setting the FBS record with 188 career touchdowns and 63 career starts at quarterback while also tying the FBS record with 155 career passing TDs. The fact that he was drafted in the third round will likely lock him into a roster spot, but this is not a great start for the accomplished college quarterback.

Updating previous reports, Cleveland Brown rookie QBs Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel are battling for the reserve pecking order spots, according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson, who added there's "almost no scenario" in which either would win the starting job in the offseason. As previous reported, QB Joe Flacco is expected to open the season as the starter.

Cleveland Browns QBs Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders will not each get 25% of the reps during offseason work or training camp, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. "The big thing for us is making sure that we give the guys enough reps that they need. ... It is not going to be everybody getting 25% of these reps. That is not how it is going to be. We want to give everybody enough reps where we can learn more about them and prepare them to get ready to play," Stefanski told ESPN Cleveland.
Huddle Up: It is almost pointless to guess how the Browns will divide the reps in the offseason and preseason, but it makes sense that the 40-year-old Flacco will see limited reps until August since he should not need much time to get ready. Gabriel is almost certain to make the roster as a third-round pick, so he is the best bet to see the most reps, even if he is the most unlikely of the bunch to be named the starter. Sanders likely has an edge over Pickett entering training camp, but it appears both players will get ample opportunity to prove themselves.

Cleveland Browns QBs Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are all possible candidates for the starting quarterback job this upcoming season, and the Browns want to have a fair and efficient competition for the job, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.
Huddle Up: Flacco may enter training camp as the leading candidate for the job, but there is no clear frontrunner in the competition. Fantasy players can monitor the situation during camp, but the winner of the job likely will only be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Cleveland Browns QB Dillon Gabriel said he loves that the Browns selected QB Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft because they can learn from each other.

Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 94th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Although Gabriel is unlikely to open the year as the starter, it isn't out of the question that he could see some action if Joe Flacco struggles or misses time.
