Free-agent TE Austin Hooper (Falcons) officially signed with the Cleveland Browns Friday, March 20. Official terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Hooper should receive a solid amount of targets next season and can be a No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Free-agent TE Austin Hooper (Falcons) reportedly agreed to terms on a contract with the Cleveland Browns on Monday, March 16, to make him the game's highest-paid tight end, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Hooper isn't the best tight end in football by a long stretch, but this report suggests the new regime has almost zero faith in David Njoku. It's not a great landing spot for him in fantasy either considering he'll have to fight Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry for targets, but the case could be made he dealt with a similar situation with the Atlanta Falcons. Owners can continue to view Hooper as a mid-tier TE1 option in fantasy moving forward.

Cleveland Browns restricted free-agent RB Kareem Hunt received a second-round tender Monday, March 16.
Huddle Up: Hunt averaged 4.2 yards per carry as he was under restrictions upon returning for the final eight games. He'll be a risky, low-end RB1 grab or a solid RB2.

Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent TE Austin Hooper is not expected to receive interest from the Buffalo Bills this offseason, according to sources.
Huddle Up: The Bills likely will go into next season with Dawson Knox and Tyler Kroft as their top tight ends. Knox posted decent numbers last season and could be a No. 2 fantasy tight end in leagues. Fantasy players can avoid Kroft in drafts.

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt will not be charged with possession of marijuana after his traffic stop on Jan. 21, a police lieutenant said Monday, March 2. The team announced at the NFL Scouting Combine that they intend to tender the restricted free agent, and there is no reason to believe the team would change that plan barring more trouble before the start of free agency March 18, beat writer Nate Ulrich suggests.
Huddle Up: Hunt rushed 43 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns while adding 37 receptions for 285 yards and a score in his eight games. He is worth a look in the middle to late rounds for depth in fantasy leagues, and he is a great handcuff for owners for Nick Chubb.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent WR Rashard Higgins is expected to test the free-agent market this offseason, but the Browns are open to re-signing him depending on the price, according to a source. The Browns met with Higgins' agent at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Huddle Up: Higgins is coming off a disappointing 2019 season where he posted only four receptions for 55 yards but did play well in 2018. He likely will receive interest from multiple teams this offseason and could be a late round option in fantasy leagues depending on his situation.

Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent TE Austin Hooper likely will be a target for the Washington Redskins during free agency, according to a source.
Huddle Up: The Redskins have lost Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis this offseason, so they likely will be adding at least one tight end this offseason. Hooper is expected to receive interest from multiple teams and likely will be a No. 1 fantasy tight end no matter where he lands.

Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent TE Austin Hooper is expected to be an offseason target of the Green Bay Packers.
Huddle Up: Despite missing three games, Hooper finished seventh among fantasy tight ends with a career season (75 receptions-787 yards-six TDs) and is hitting the market at just the right time. Green Bay would be a prime landing spot with the Packers' tight end production lacking in recent seasons.

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield is planning to be slimmer and faster next year after he bulked up before the 2019 season.
Huddle Up: Mayfield was a big flop in fantasy last season, and he'll have another chance to rekindle midrange QB1 value in 2020. He's a better buy at the back end of the midrange.
Posted 2/25/2020 11:25 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku is likely to have his fifth-year option picked up, according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Huddle Up: Njoku had a down year in 2019, as he didn't seem to gel with former head coach Freddie Kitchens. He finished the season with just 41 yards a touchdown in four games played. A first-rounder in 2017, there's still plenty of hope for his future.

Impending free-agent RB Kareem Hunt will be tendered, according to Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry Tuesday, Feb. 25. Berry didn't say which level of tender Hunt would receive.
Huddle Up: Hunt excelled as a dual-threat complement to Nick Chubb over his eight games played in 2019. He totaled 464 yards from scrimmage with three touchdowns and will be an RB4 or 5 if he sticks in Cleveland for the 2020 campaign.
Posted 2/25/2020 4:36 pm UTC
Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent TE Austin Hooper will be allowed to discover his market in free agency.
Huddle Up: That means he's likely gone. Hooper had career highs with a 75-787-6 line last season and is someone to watch in free agency to potentially take that next step in an offense that suits him. He'll at least be an upper-middle TE1 in fantasy.
Posted 2/23/2020 2:39 am UTC
Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent TE Austin Hooper's new contract will likely be in the range of $44 million over four years with $26.5 million guaranteed, in the opinion of former NFL agent Joel Corry.
Huddle Up: Despite being hobbled in the second of the season with an MCL strain, Hooper still managed to deliver a career year in 2019. He's topped 70 receptions in each of the past two seasons, and while he may no be back with the Falcons in 2020, Hooper should remain in the TE1 mix wherever he suits up.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (core) should be completely recovered from his core muscle surgery in about a month, according to a source.
Huddle Up: It appears like Beckham should be ready of offseason workouts as long as he does not suffer a setback. He will be working under a new offensive scheme next season but is still one of the top receivers in the NFL. He will be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues in 2020.
Posted 2/20/2020 1:34 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (hip) changed his mind and underwent hip surgery this week. He's expected to be back at some time in training camp.
Huddle Up: Landry's 83-1174-6 showing was one of the better showings of his career, and his 14.1 yards per catch was a career high. He's a low-end WR2 or a high-end WR3 in PPR leagues.
Posted 2/19/2020 4:32 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield will work on his footwork with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. Van Pelt said he's going to have him put his left foot up (last year, had his right foot up) in the shotgun. Van Pelt thinks that will help Mayfield be more fluid in three-step drop out of the gun.
Huddle Up: Mayfield was 16th in fantasy points at the position last year in what was a colossal bust of a season. He'll be drafted highly anticipating a breakout again this season, but there are at least seven or eight quarterbacks that should go ahead of him.

Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent TE Austin Hooper could be a target for the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to John Reid of The Florida Times-Union.
Huddle Up: The Jaguars tight ends combined for just three touchdowns in 2019. Meanwhile, Hooper has emerged as one of the steadier options at the position, topping 70 catches in each of the past two seasons and recording a career-high 787 receiving yards last year. Moving from Atlanta's offense to Jacksonville's offense would be a downgrade, but Hooper will likely be a low-end TE1 regardless of where he plays in 2020.
Posted 2/12/2020 2:42 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett was reinstated by the NFL Wednesday, Feb. 12.
Huddle Up: Garrett had 10 sacks in as many games before his suspension, and he was a solid DL1 in IDP leagues. Look for him as a mid-to-low DL1 in IDP drafts in 2020.
Posted 1/31/2020 6:17 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield talked about his personal disappointment with his 2019 season Friday, Jan. 31, including his 23 total turnovers (21 interceptions and two lost fumbles). 'I've never turned the ball over so many times,' Mayfield said. 'You can't win like that. That falls back on me.'
Huddle Up: Drafted as a top-five QB in a number of leagues, Mayfield was one of fantasy's biggest duds of 2019. He'll most likely be a QB2 pick this summer, and it's a pick that will come with ample upside for a potentially profitable turnaround.
Posted 1/24/2020 6:37 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt's car was found to contain marijuana following a traffic stop Tuesday, Jan. 21, in which Hunt was issued a speeding citation in Ohio.
Huddle Up: Although Hunt wasn't cited for possession, he could face scrutiny from the league after sitting out the first half of the 2019 season due to a personal-conduct suspension. Without a ban, Hunt projects as a low-end RB2 entering next season.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper is not close to a contract extension with the team, according to general manager Thomas Dimitroff Tuesday, Jan. 21. 'The reality right now is that we are trudging along,' Dimitroff said. 'Once we get back from the Super Bowl, after the Super Bowl week we'll continue to look and see how we are moving forward. But at this point there are no updates on Austin.'
Huddle Up: Hooper is coming off a career year in which he caught 75 passes for 787 yards and six touchdowns. He's an excellent third option behind WRs Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley in Atlanta, but his play this year may have priced him out of the Falcons' budget for 2020 and beyond. His potential free-agent destination would have a big impact on his 2020 draft stock.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. will sit down with new head coach Kevin Stefanski Thursday, Jan. 23, to discuss Stefanski's plan for personal conduct. 'I'm looking forward to sitting down with Odell face to face,' Stefanski said. 'I haven't had the chance to do that yet and I get the chance to do that (Thursday). And at that point, that's when I can start laying out my expectations for Odell and all of our players.' Beckham was caught on video at the College Football Playoff Championship Game earlier this month appearing to hand out cash to LSU Tigers players, as well as appearing to slap a security officer on the butt in the locker room. Charges had been filed against Beckham for the latter incident, but they were later dropped.
Huddle Up: Beckham totaled 1,035 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his first season in Cleveland. Bigger things were expected, and the hiring of Stefanski should help lead to improvements for 2020. He remains a top-end WR1.
Posted 1/21/2020 4:54 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (hip) isn't expected to have surgery this offseason and will play in the Pro Bowl.
Huddle Up: Landry had a career-high 1,174 receiving yards to go with 83 grabs and six scores. The 27-year-old played in all 16 games for the sixth straight year and will be a low-end WR2 option in drafts next year.
Posted 1/21/2020 4:39 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (abdomen) underwent surgery to repair his core muscle Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Philadelphia. He dealt with the injury for multiple weeks during the season.
Huddle Up: OBJ had a miserable season by his standards after most likely being a top-five pick. It's not a lock that he returns to the Browns after considerable drama that comes along with his immense talent. He's a risky fantasy asset because of that, but he'll be a WR1 in drafts again next year.
Posted 1/18/2020 5:30 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. likely won't face simple-assault charges for slapping a security officer's buttocks Monday, Jan. 13, as the officer has declined to press charges, according to a source.
Huddle Up: The Browns -- and OBJ's fantasy dynasty-league owners -- are hoping this the final negative offseason headline the wideout generates for a good while and he starts focusing his energies on improving on his disappointing debut season with Cleveland.
Posted 1/16/2020 5:35 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. is the subject of a simple battery arrest warrant issued by the New Orleans Police Department after Beckham appeared to slap a police officer's buttocks in the LSU locker room Monday, Jan. 13 following the College Football Playoff championship game.
Huddle Up: While this isn't the most serious of incidents, OBJ continues to make more headlines off the field than on it following his disappointing 2019 debut with the Browns (74 catches-1,035 yards-4 TDs). And if the trend continues, will the new Browns regime say enough is enough for a player brought in by the previous administration?
Posted 1/15/2020 12:09 am UTC
Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent TE Austin Hooper likely will not receive the franchise tag this offseason, in the opinion of's Vaughn McClure.
Huddle Up: Hooper likely will receive interest from multiple teams if he hits the free-agent market. He was one of the top tight ends in the NFL this season and probably will be a No. 1 fantasy tight end again next season.
Posted 12/30/2019 5:04 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (hip) told reporters Monday, Dec. 30, that a timetable for his return from hip surgery would be six to eight months, making surgery a 'last resort.'
Huddle Up: The most optimistic recovery time would cause him to miss all the team's offseason work with a new coaching staff, while the most pessimistic return would wipe out most of his offseason and put him at some risk to miss the beginning of the 2020 season. Expect a decision to be made shortly one way or the other so he can avoid missing a game for the first time in his career.
Posted 12/29/2019 5:00 pm UTC
Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (groin, illness) is officially active for the team's Week 17 game.
Huddle Up: Beckham will see plenty of targets in the passing game and will have a favorable matchup. He can be at least a No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.
