Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) passed his physical Tuesday, July 27, and is good to go for training camp.
Huddle Up: OBJ will have to find where he fits after failing to fit in before being lost for the season as QB Baker Mayfield had a breakout. Beckham will be an upside WR3 in fantasy.
Posted 7/05/2021 4:45 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb could be paced early on in order to attempt to get him through 24 games through the preseason, regular season and playoffs, in the opinion of beat writer Mary Kay Cabot.
Huddle Up: Expect Chubb to share the load with Kareem Hunt, but it shouldn't hinder his fantasy prowess. Chubb was 11th in fantasy points in PPR leagues despite only playing 12 games. Peg him as a midrange RB1.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) has looked like a freak of nature in the way that he has recovered from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, in the opinion of beat writer Mary Kay Cabot. The Browns will probably be cautious with him in the early part of training camp.
Huddle Up: OBJ's fantasy star is fading after four years lost to ineffectiveness and injuries. He'll be an upside WR3 in drafts.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr.'s targets have resulted in a 72.4 passer rating for QB Baker Mayfield, and Mayfield has an 89.9 rating when targeting any other player.
Huddle Up: Given Beckham's inconsistent production in Cleveland, Mayfield's issues when targeting the receiver aren't a surprise. It is hard to imagine these two suddenly becoming an unstoppable combo, capping Beckham's ceiling in the WR3 range.

The Cleveland Browns have not had any substantive talks with QB Baker Mayfield on a contract extension, according to multiple sources. Proposals have not yet been exchanged and work on a potential deal could possibly stretch into October.
Huddle Up: After having the fifth-year option on his rookie contract exercised earlier this offseason, Mayfield is under contract with the club for the next two seasons, so there doesn't appear to be much urgency from either side to agree to a long-term deal immediately. He should be viewed as a low-end QB1 or high-end QB2 option in fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt said recently that he believes both he and RB teammate Nick Chubb can both eclipse 1,000 rushing yards in the 2021 season. 'I believed it was possible last year, too, but some things happened,' Hunt told 'We'll learn from it and get better and hopefully continue to put in good work this year.'
Huddle Up: While Hunt fell 159 rushing yards short of 1,000 a year ago, Chubb churned out 1,067. Both backs, though, finished with at least 1,145 yards from scrimmage and 11 TDs to finish as top-11 PPR RBs even though Chubb missed four games due to injury. If he can stay healthier, Chubb figures to get more touches and projects as a solid RB1, but Hunt's superior pass-catching ability should keep him in the low-end RB2 mix.

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield has a good chance to receive a long-term contract extension this offseason, according to his agent.
Huddle Up: Mayfield is under contract for two more years but could still receive an extension before the start of the regular season. He played well during the second half of the season and will have plenty of weapons to work with in the passing game. He can be a low-end No. 1 or a high-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback.
Posted 6/19/2021 1:04 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield has a noticeable increase in his confidence level, according to offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. 'In the last seven or eight games last year, he really played really well,' Van Pelt said. 'I think he now feels that. He understands what that looks like and how he has to operate within the system to be successful. Now that he realizes that, you see it more in practice.'
Huddle Up: Mayfield had a breakthrough last year, but he was just 17th among quarterbacks in fantasy points. He could improve upon that, but we're still looking at a QB2 in fantasy.
Posted 6/18/2021 9:14 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb said he hopes to sign a long-term deal with the Browns and that his agent has been talking with the Browns about an extension this offseason.
Huddle Up: Chubb has rushed for at least 990 yards in each of the three seasons in the NFL and will continue to be a big part of the offense for the Browns. He should be a weekly starting option in all fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) took part in individual drills at mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 15 - his first practice activity since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament nearly eight months ago - according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal. Beckham reportedly did not wear a brace, wrap or sleeve on his injured knee.
Huddle Up: Beckham was expected to be ready for training camp and the regular season, but it is notable he trusts his knee enough to practice now and do so without any kind of support. While Cleveland's run-based offense will likely limit his fantasy ceiling somewhat, he should have enough explosive games in 2021 to remain firmly in the WR3 conversation at worst.

Cleveland Browns WR Demetric Felton has been practicing at both running back and wide receiver at organized team activities, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski Wednesday, June 2. 'He has done both with us already,' Stefanski said. 'He has been in both meetings. There have been times he is a running back for that day and a wide receiver the next day. It does speak to his versatility. It speaks to his ability to mentally handle that.'
Huddle Up: Felton's ability to play both positions could give him a shot to earn playing time in the Browns' crowded backfield and receiving corps. He'll make for a strong keeper or dynasty pick in 2021 fantasy drafts, but he's unlikely to start the season with much value in redraft leagues.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) has looked good this offseason and is expected to report for the mandatory minicamp, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. He is not participating in offseason workouts with the Browns and has been working out in Arizona.
Huddle Up: Beckham is working his way back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and should be a full participant when training camp starts. He did not show great chemistry with Baker Mayfield before the injury but should still have a prominent role in the passing game. He can be at least a No. 2 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament but should be ready for the start of the 2021 season, in the opinion of the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.
Huddle Up: Beckham posted 319 yards in seven games before the injury and will have to improve his chemistry with Baker Mayfield. He can be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues if he is healthy and is a main option in the passing game for the Browns.
Posted 5/01/2021 3:17 am GMT
Auburn WR Anthony Schwartz was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 91st overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: A speedy lot receiver, Schwartz should be able to stretch the field vertically from Day 1, but he is unlikely to provide the week-to-week production to make a worthwhile impact for fantasy owners.

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield has not started contract extension talks with the Browns at this point, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Mayfield is under contract for two more seasons, so the Browns can take their time in negotiations. Mayfield posted solid numbers this past season but probably will be a No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.
Posted 4/23/2021 12:59 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield had his fifth-year option exercised Friday, April 23. The deal extends him through 2022, and he'll earn $18.86 million that season.
Huddle Up: Mayfield busted out as a surefire QB1 last year. He has some bust potential, but he'll be in the mid-to-low QB1 area.
Posted 4/10/2021 5:56 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns WR Rashard Higgins averaged 11.5 receiving yards per target in 2020 -- a figure which trailed only Houston Texans WR Will Fuller (11.7) among qualifiers last season.
Huddle Up: Higgins hit a career high with 599 receiving yards in 2020 and matched his season-best mark with four touchdown receptions but problem remains getting enough targets (52 in 2020) as the No. 3 wideout on a run-heavy team in which six pass-catchers saw at least 38 targets a season ago. He's a WR5 for fantasy, who possesses decent upside if Odell Beckham Jr. continues to battle injuries.
Posted 3/22/2021 4:01 am GMT
Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb leads the league with 34 runs of at least 20 yards since 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.
Huddle Up: Part of the reason Chubb stands atop the leaderboard in 20-yard runs is that he also ranked first in the league in "elusiveness rating" per PFF. Even though Kareem Hunt capped his upside a bit and a knee injury cost him four games last year, Chubb still ran for more than 1,000 yards and generally operated at a low-end fantasy RB1 level at the very least. That should be the expectation again in 2021.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) is on track with his recovery, according to general manager Andrew Berry.
Huddle Up: Beckham should be ready for training camp and will work on regaining a connection with Baker Mayfield. He is one of the better receivers in the NFL when healthy and can be a weekly starting option in all leagues.

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku is a candidate to be released or traded this offseason as heads into the non-guaranteed fifth option year of his rookie contract, and Saturday, Feb. 27, he tweeted what sounds like a goodbye to Browns fans. 'Whatever happens I appreciate all the love from all my loyal fans,' Njoku wrote. 'I've kept quiet for a while but I wanted to express that at least for now. I love u guys.'
Huddle Up: Njoku caught only 19 passes for 213 yards in 13 regular-season games a year after missing all but four games with a wrist injury in 2019, and it sure seems like he will be playing elsewhere with the salary cap dipping and the Browns set elsewhere at tight end.
Posted 2/27/2021 12:10 am GMT
Cleveland Browns impending free-agent WR Rashard Higgins said he would like to return to the Browns, but the team has not made a contract offer at this point. The Browns are interested in re-signing Higgins but only at a certain price, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Higgins posted a career-high 599 yards this season and will receive some interest if he hits the free-agent market. He has a chance to be a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues next season depending on his situation.
Posted 2/21/2021 7:16 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield will have his fifth-year option exercised this offseason.
Huddle Up: Mayfield played better this season and showed good chemistry with his receivers. He has not thrown for more than 27 touchdowns in any season and probably can be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback next season.
Posted 2/17/2021 1:22 am GMT
Cleveland Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones ranked fourth among rookie wide receivers with 1.83 receiving yards per route run in 2020, according to Pro Football Focus.
Huddle Up: Peoples-Jones emerged late in the season after WR Odell Beckham Jr. was lost to injury. He could take on an increased role if WR Rashard Higgins is allowed to leave via free agency but seems likely to be the third or fourth option in the passing game next season behind Beckham, WR Jarvis Landry and TE Austin Hooper.
Posted 2/06/2021 5:30 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku has declined to say if wants to be back with the team next season. 'I just found myself in a position where I'm upset with the playing time, but this team that I'm on is winning and I don't want to ruin it for anybody else around me,' Njoku said Friday, Feb. 4, in an interview on the Jim Rome Show. 'I don't want to ruin it for myself.'
Huddle Up: With newly acquired tight ends Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant combining for 70 receptions and 673 yards and that seven TDs, Njoku only had 19 catches for 213 yards and a pair of scores in 13 games and essentially was a forgotten man in the Cleveland offense. Njoku is heading into the option year on his rookie deal, but it's not guaranteed until the first day of the new league year on March 17, so there's a definite chance he could be playing elsewhere next season.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb led the NFL with 4.1 yards after contact per carry in 2020, and he has averaged at least 3.8 yards after contact per carry in all three of his seasons.
Huddle Up: Chubb has been the model of consistency, averaging at least 5.0 yards per carry in each of his three seasons while rushing for at least 996 yards and eight touchdowns. Even with Kareem Hunt also in the mix, Chubb is a safe bet to deliver RB1 numbers in 2021.
Posted 1/30/2021 8:41 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb is Pro Football Focus' highest-graded running back (92.9) since he entered the league in 2018.
Huddle Up: Don't be misled by Chubb's season-ending totals as he missed games (four with a knee injury) for the first time in his three pro seasons. He finished seventh among running backs (min. 8 games played) with an averaged of 17.5 fantasy points per game and that was with a career-low 16 receptions last season. He's a locked-in RB1 heading into next season.

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) is on track in his recovery from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to general manager Andrew Berry.
Huddle Up: Beckham has battled injuries and inconsistent play in recent years, and he has become more of a boom-or-bust fantasy option in Cleveland's run-heavy offense. Still, he should offer WR2 upside in 2021 as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks during the offseason.
Posted 1/18/2021 9:34 pm GMT
Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) received a strong indication from head coach Kevin Stefanski on Monday, Jan. 18, that he will not be traded as he continues to recover from his torn anterior cruciate ligament. 'I texted with him this morning. I know he's working really hard to get better in his rehab. I'm excited to get him back here,' Stefanski said of Beckham during a virtual interview on Monday.
Huddle Up: Beckham is two months into his ACL rehab and signed through the end of the 2023 season, so a trade was always an unlikely proposition. Making things more difficult for a deal to get done is that he is already 28 years old and has dealt with injuries in four straight seasons. The Browns can always decide to go more pass-heavy in the future, but they seem intent on relying on the running game under Stefanski. As a result, a healthy Beckham needs to be viewed as a high-upside WR2 in fantasy in 2021.
Posted 1/18/2021 7:19 am GMT
Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield could be approached about a contract extension during the offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who said that the team is now 'all in' and believes that Mayfield is their 'franchise quarterback.' Rapoport also added that there is 'no rush' on the extension with Mayfield under team control for the next two seasons if the club exercises its fifth-year option.
Huddle Up: Mayfield made strides under Kevin Stefanski and almost led the Browns to an upset of the Chiefs on Sunday afternoon. He's still looking like more of a QB2 heading into 2021, especially given the strength of the running game, but the arrow certainly appears to be pointed up.
