Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens didn't have a carry or a target in a 38-24 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7.
Huddle Up: It was the second straight game where Giddens failed to record a touch as the Colts continue to give almost all the backfield work to Jonathan Taylor. Giddens still ranks second among running backs in touches for Indianapolis, but he is solely a handcuff for Taylor.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens rushed 12 times for 41 yards in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, and he was not targeted in the passing game.
Huddle Up: The rookie saw 12 total carries, to 18 for starter Jonathan Taylor. However, at this point, don't look too much into that. The game was a rout, and the rookie was seeing a little more playing time and snaps in the second half than he is likely to see when the game is much closer. Still, he is worth a roster spot for depth in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, and as a handcuff for Taylor fantasy managers. And, Giddens is a nice option in dynasty formats.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens is expected to play a role in the team's passing game to complement Jonathan Taylor, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder. Per Holder, Taylor is not seen as a strong pass catcher, so this is a role designed for Giddens.
Huddle Up: While Taylor remains the undisputed RB1 in the Colts offense, Giddens presents a unique case to follow for fantasy players. The team had only 65 targets for running backs in 2024, but with Daniel Jones named the starting quarterback, it is possible the team will see an uptick in that number. Giddens is worth a late-round flier in your drafts as Jonathan Taylor's handcuff, given the role he is projected to have.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens rushed six times for just 17 yards in the preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens, and he had no receptions on one target.
Huddle Up: Giddens is listed as the primary backup to starter Jonathan Taylor in the backfield, ahead of Tyler Goodson and Khalil Herbert. Giddens is a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but Goodson is a holdover, and Herbert has plenty of NFL experience. It's one preseason game, so don't get down on Giddens just yet. However, he'll need to have better performances down the stretch in the preseason if he wants to maintain his primary backup position.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens has the team "excited" due to his "big-play potential," according to ESPN's Stephen Holder, who writes that Giddens will compete with veteran RB Khalil Herbert for the backup job behind RB Jonathan Taylor in camp.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens is "poised" to operate as the team's primary pass-catching back as a rookie, in the opinion of The Athletic's James Boyd. Free-agent signee RB Khalil Herbert should be the backup while RB Tyler Goodson could be on his way out following the pair of offseason additions.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens could "max out" as an early-down backup to RB Jonathan Taylor, according to Mike Clay of ESPN.com.
