Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens (hamstring) will be the "odd man out" when it comes to the 53-man roster, in the opinion of ESPN's Stephen Holder, who notes that Giddens has been slowed by injuries during the preseason and does not offer the same versatility as rookie RB Seth McGowan.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens (hamstring) has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, allowing rookie RB Seth McGowan to take first- and second-team reps. Giddens has also dropped a few passes in training camp when he has been on the field. RB Ulysses Bentley IV has also made a push for the third job, putting additional pressure on Giddens.
Huddle Up: Giddens is struggling to stay healthy, and he is not doing a great job when he is on the field. McGowan has had a tremendous impact, making the most of his opportunities, while Bentley has also shined. Avoid Giddens for fantasy purposes, unless he can miraculously move back past McGowan for the primary backup job to Taylor.

Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor led the league with 323 carries and was one of 11 running backs to play in all 17 games last season. Head coach Shane Steichen said the team is aware of it and plan to use RBs Seth McGowan and DJ Giddens to supplement Taylor. "I think he led the league last year in carries, but talking to him after the season, he said he felt good," Steichen said. "But yeah, obviously he's a hell of a player. It's hard to take him off the field when he's running so good, but getting Seth (McGowan) in the fold and DJ (Giddens) and see how those guys come along in training camp, and we'll go from there."
Huddle Up: Taylor has 1,551 carries in the NFL and 926 carries in college. He's still just 27 years old and should remain a high-floor RB1. It would be a good idea to handcuff him to McGowan or Giddens, whichever flashes in camp.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens ran for 30 yards on eight carries in a Week 18 loss to the Houston Texans.
Huddle Up: Giddens entered with 18 carries for 66 yards. He's not relevant for 2026 at this point.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens didn't have a carry or a target in a 38-24 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7.
Huddle Up: It was the second straight game where Giddens failed to record a touch as the Colts continue to give almost all the backfield work to Jonathan Taylor. Giddens still ranks second among running backs in touches for Indianapolis, but he is solely a handcuff for Taylor.
