Kansas City Chiefs director of player personnel Ryne Nutt said that the organization views rookie WR Jalen Royals fulfilling a similar role in 2025 to the one filled by WR Rashee Rice (knee) last season. Nutt said that his run-after-catch ability is one of his strong suits but added that his route running is an area where he needs to continue developing.
Huddle Up: Rice is recovering from knee surgery and it is uncertain if he will be able to fully participate in organized team activities. If he is completely healthy at the start of the regular season, Royals' best bet to see consistent game action might be as a punt returner instead. Royals can probably be avoided in most standard fantasy leagues for now but he could be an in-season waiver wire option if he plays well early on.
