Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) could potentially need two surgeries to address the knee injuries he suffered in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a source via Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. The first surgery could reportedly happen within the next seven to 10 days, while the second surgery would occur several weeks after.
Huddle Up: Chubb faces a long road to recovery, but the potential silver lining is that he tore three ligaments, a knee dislocation and suffered cartilage damage in the same knee in college during the 2015 season and was able to recover from that. There is some speculation that Chubb may need up to 15 months to recover, which is obviously bad news for a running back set to turn 28 years old in December. Chubb's workouts are the stuff of legend, so the fantasy world can only hope that his work ethic allows him to return to the field at some point in 2024. Cleveland will turn to Jerome Ford to fill the sizeable void he leaves behind.

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) is expected to miss the rest of the 2023 season due to the knee injury he suffered in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, Sept. 18. He was carted off, and head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed after the game that Chubb is expected to be out for the season, although he did not get into details of the injury. Chubb is expected to have an MRI on Tuesday, Sept. 19, which will provide more details.
Huddle Up: With Chubb done for the season, it appears Jerome Ford will be the next man up for the Browns. He had 16 carries for 106 yards once Chubb went down. The team also has Pierre Strong Jr. on the roster. It is possible the team could put in a call to former Browns tailback, and still current free-agent, Kareem Hunt, who the team knows well. It's a devastating blow for one of the good guys in the NFL, and it's tough for fantasy managers who used an early round pick for just about six quarters of return.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) was carted off the field after suffering a knee injury during the Week 2 game and has been ruled out.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see how long Chubb will be sidelined. Jerome Ford likely will be the main running back for now if Chubb misses time, but the team may look to add another back. Ford can be at least a flex option if he handles the starting job.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed 18 times for a game-high 106 yards in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he hauled in four receptions for 21 yards on his four targets.
Huddle Up: Chubb's fantasy managers have to be happy with the triple-digit yardage total, but they might be alarmed by the fact Jerome Ford had 15 carries as the backup. Ford takes over the role formerly occupied by Kareem Hunt, and he lost a fumble in the win. The weather was rainy and the field slick, so the Browns kept the ball on the ground maybe even a little more than they normally do. Chubb's fantasy managers should relax, as he remains a legit RB1 in all leagues heading into Week 2 at Pittsburgh on Monday Night Football.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb will not play in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 11.
Huddle Up: Chubb likely will receive a significant amount of touches this season and likely will be selected in the first two rounds of fantasy drafts. He will be a weekly starting option in all leagues.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb is a player who is "good at it all" and "a schematic fit really in anything," according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. "Nick's a huge part of our offense, obviously hand it to him, throwing it to him. ... I don't know if there (are) limits to him as a player. I think he's a schematic fit really in anything. ... I think Nick's a good runner when you spread it out. Nick's a good runner when you try to block everybody. He's good from the (shotgun), good from the pistol, good from when quarterback is under center, so we talk a lot about versatility and offense. ... You can run anything with Nick. There (are) some runners that really prefer downhill gap scheme runs and maybe aren't great from the (shotgun). There (are) some runners that are better from the (shotgun) and better on perimeter-type schemes. Nick's good at it all," Stefanski told reporters Sunday, July 23.
Huddle Up: Stefanski's comments support the notion that Chubb may be best pure running back in the game today. With Kareem Hunt and D'Ernest Johnson out of the picture and only Jerome Ford in reserve, the stage is set for Chubb to have a career year. Not only could that happen because he is in line to set a career high in targets and snaps, but also because a more pass-happy offense led by Deshaun Watson should open things up for him on the ground. Chubb is one of a handful of worthy candidates that should be in the running to be the overall RB1 in fantasy this season.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb's 5.2 yards per rush since entering the league in 2018 is the best mark in the NFL and the second-best mark in NFL history among players with at least 1,000 rushes.
Huddle Up: Chubb doesn't contribute a ton in the passing game, but he is one of the best in the business between the tackles. With a full year of Deshaun Watson under center, Chubb should be headed for another RB1 campaign.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb will be "an incredibly integral part of the offense this year," according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Huddle Up: There was a bit of noise earlier in the month about Chubb getting traded or having his touches reduced - in deference to Deshaun Watson becoming a bigger part of the offense - but that is unlikely to be the case. Not only is Chubb wildly productive when he touches the ball, but the team's decision to not re-sign Kareem Hunt or D'Ernest Johnson strongly suggests that Chubb will get his usual workload and then some. Jerome Ford will likely spell him from time to time, but a less rusty Watson and more positive game scripts could lead to another banner year from Chubb.
