Free-agent RB Nick Chubb (Browns) appears to be an unlikely option for the Cleveland Browns now that RB Jerome Ford agreed to take a pay cut, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Chubb has been linked to a few teams this offseason, so he likely will be wearing a new uniform in 2025. He likely will not find a starting job with a team but should be part of a committee. He could be a late round pick in fantasy leagues depending on his team but will not be a weekly starting option.

Free-agent RB Nick Chubb (Browns) is still very much wanted by the Cleveland Browns, but the Chicago Bears are reportedly serious about signing him as well, according to Ken Carman of 92.3 The Fan. "The Browns want to bring Nick Chubb back. They are trying hard to bring Nick back. I know this. The Bears are very serious about bringing him in and are trying to make this push," Carman said.
Huddle Up: A return to the Browns seems unlikely only because they drafted two running backs in the first four rounds last weekend. Their quarterback situation is also in flux, which makes it unlikely they will contend for anything meaningful over the next year or two. Conversely, the Bears appear to be an ascending team with a much-improved offensive line and a need for an early-down back. Assuming Chubb is motivated by playing for a contender in a good offense, signing with Chicago appears to be an easy decision. Assuming he decides on the Bears, Chubb would have fantasy RB3 appeal.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent RB Nick Chubb is expected to reach the open market when free agency starts, according to general manager Andrew Berry.
Huddle Up: It's not a surprise for a 29-year-old running back with multiple devastating knee injuries. However, the Browns likely hope the rest of the league feels the same way about Chubb, which could allow them to sign him at a discount. Chubb predictably struggled upon his return from injury in 2024, but it would not be shocking if he overcomes the odds for the second time in his career and performs well in his first full season back from a serious knee injury.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent RB Nick Chubb said he hasn't had any contract discussions but hopes to re-sign with the Browns.
Huddle Up: Chubb was a RB1 just a couple of years ago, but he looked like a shell of his former self as he returned from a serious knee injury, and that was before his 2024 season ended early due to a foot injury. No matter where Chub plays in 2025, he will be no more than a late-round lottery ticket.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (foot) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Huddle Up: Jerome Ford will be an RB2 for the rest of the season. D'Onta Foreman could also have some value in short-yardage situations and is a flex candidate.

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (foot) will undergo surgery to repair the broken foot he suffered against the Kansas City Chiefs, head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday, Dec. 16. No timeline for return was provided.

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (foot) suffered a broken foot in the Week 15 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Sunday, Dec. 15. Chubb finished with 41 rushing yards on nine attempts with no catches on one target in what will be his final game of 2024.
Huddle Up: Chubb has had terrible luck in the past two seasons. He returned from a gruesome knee injury suffered in Week 2 at Pittsburgh last season, and he just never seemed to have the same kind of pre-injury burst. After this season-ending injury, it's entirely possible we've seen Chubb's last game in a Cleveland uniform. Jerome Ford will be the primary back for the remainder of the season, with Pierre Strong and D'Onta Foreman as other potential options.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (foot) suffered a foot injury during the Week 15 game and has been ruled out.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see if Chubb will have a chance to play in the Week 16 game. Jerome Ford will receive most of the work is Chubb misses time and can be at least a flex option in fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed 11 times for 48 yards in a 27-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14.
Huddle Up: Chubb has struggled to produce explosive plays since returning from injury, and in recent weeks, his carries have been limited with the Browns playing from behind. There is a chance that Chubb won't be more than a touchdown-dependent flex option the rest of the year.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed nine times for just 21 yards in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos, while adding two receptions for 24 yards and a touchdown on his two targets.
Huddle Up: Chubb was on the bench for a long period from early in the second quarter to early in the second half, although head coach Kevin Stefanski said, per the telecast, that it wasn't due to any kind of injury. Jerome Ford split the rushing attempts right down the middle with Chubb, who averaged only 2.3 yards per carry to 4.6 for Ford. The touchdown was nice, but the lack of touches was concerning for Chubb and his fantasy managers. The Steelers host the Browns in Week 14.
