Free-agent RB Nick Chubb (Browns) signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans Monday, June 9, worth $2.5 million, according to sources. The deal could be worth as much as $5 million with incentives.
Huddle Up: Chubb should be the top candidate for the backup running back job behind Joe Mixon. Mixon has been dealing with an injury this offseason but should be ready for the start of the regular season, so Chubb probably will see a limited workload. He likely can be avoided in fantasy leagues unless Mixon suffers an injury during the season.

Free-agent RB Nick Chubb (Browns) reportedly passed his physical with the Houston Texans on Monday, June 9, which was reportedly the only potential obstacle keeping him from signing with the team.
Huddle Up: An official announcement of Chubb signing a one-year contract with the Texans should be happening shortly. It remains to be seen what Houston has in mind for Chubb, who reportedly turned down more lucrative offers to agree to terms on an incentive-laden contract with Houston, but it seems reasonable to believe Chubb will be working in tandem with Joe Mixon when both men are healthy. While Chubb is now a strong candidate to be flex-worthy in 2025, there is almost no chance Mixon comes close to handling the 20 touches per game he averaged over 14 outings last year.

Free-agent RB Nick Chubb (Browns) is expected to sign with the Houston Texans Monday, June 9, as long as he can pass a physical, according to sources.
Huddle Up: Chubb probably will take over as the No. 2 running back behind Joe Mixon and probably will see some touches each game. Fantasy players can consider Chubb as a handcuff to Mixon but probably will not be a starting option most weeks.

Free-agent RB Nick Chubb (Browns) is receiving interest from the Houston Texans, and Chubb is believed to be interested in joining the team, according to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.
Huddle Up: Chubb would be the backup to Joe Mixon if he signs with the Texans and likely would see a limited workload during games. Fantasy players can monitor the situation because Chubb may not have a lot of value if he joins the Texans.

Free-agent RB J.K. Dobbins (Chargers) has "the size and rushing style that would complement D'Andre Swift well and add a physicality to the attack that's beneficial to (head coach) Ben Johnson's scheme," according to Scott Bair of the Marquee Sports Network. Bair also believes that Dobbins is "a safer bet" to sign with the team than former Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb.
Huddle Up: Bair suggests the primary reason that Dobbins remains a free agent is that he has "a (contract) number in mind and will wait until someone hits it." Dobbins essentially has until July 22 to decide because it is after then that the Chargers will have exclusive negotiating rights with him. With only Roschon Johnson and seventh-round draft pick Kyle Monangai to compete with for the early-down role in Chicago, Dobbins could be a solid fantasy RB2 again this season.

Free-agent RB Nick Chubb (Browns) appears to be an unlikely option for the Cleveland Browns now that RB Jerome Ford agreed to take a pay cut, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Chubb has been linked to a few teams this offseason, so he likely will be wearing a new uniform in 2025. He likely will not find a starting job with a team but should be part of a committee. He could be a late round pick in fantasy leagues depending on his team but will not be a weekly starting option.

Free-agent RB Nick Chubb (Browns) is still very much wanted by the Cleveland Browns, but the Chicago Bears are reportedly serious about signing him as well, according to Ken Carman of 92.3 The Fan. "The Browns want to bring Nick Chubb back. They are trying hard to bring Nick back. I know this. The Bears are very serious about bringing him in and are trying to make this push," Carman said.
Huddle Up: A return to the Browns seems unlikely only because they drafted two running backs in the first four rounds last weekend. Their quarterback situation is also in flux, which makes it unlikely they will contend for anything meaningful over the next year or two. Conversely, the Bears appear to be an ascending team with a much-improved offensive line and a need for an early-down back. Assuming Chubb is motivated by playing for a contender in a good offense, signing with Chicago appears to be an easy decision. Assuming he decides on the Bears, Chubb would have fantasy RB3 appeal.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent RB Nick Chubb is expected to reach the open market when free agency starts, according to general manager Andrew Berry.
Huddle Up: It's not a surprise for a 29-year-old running back with multiple devastating knee injuries. However, the Browns likely hope the rest of the league feels the same way about Chubb, which could allow them to sign him at a discount. Chubb predictably struggled upon his return from injury in 2024, but it would not be shocking if he overcomes the odds for the second time in his career and performs well in his first full season back from a serious knee injury.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent RB Nick Chubb said he hasn't had any contract discussions but hopes to re-sign with the Browns.
Huddle Up: Chubb was a RB1 just a couple of years ago, but he looked like a shell of his former self as he returned from a serious knee injury, and that was before his 2024 season ended early due to a foot injury. No matter where Chub plays in 2025, he will be no more than a late-round lottery ticket.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (foot) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Huddle Up: Jerome Ford will be an RB2 for the rest of the season. D'Onta Foreman could also have some value in short-yardage situations and is a flex candidate.
