The team also placed DE Ali Gaye (knee) on the Reserve/Injured list and also placed LB E.J. Speed (quadriceps) and CB M.J. Stewart (quadriceps) on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Houston Texans LB E.J. Speed (quadriceps) and CB M.J. Stewart (quadriceps) are candidates for to start the 2026 season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list, in the opinion of The Houston Chronicle's Jonathan M. Alexander.

RB Joe Mixon (ankle) also did not practice all week and is listed as doubtful. OL Jarrett Patterson (calf) did not practice on Friday, Sept. 20, and is listed as questionable. C Juice Scruggs (groin) and S M.J. Stewart (knee) were limited in practice on Friday and are also listed as questionable. LB Azeez Al-Shaair (shin), CB Kris Boyd (hip), WR Nico Collins (hip, foot), DT Folorunso Fatukasi (shoulder), CB Kamari Lassiter (elbow) and TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) practiced in full on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.
