Atlanta Falcons WR Darnell Mooney had nine receptions for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mooney was targeted a game-high 16 times.
Huddle Up: Left for dead after two disappointing seasons in Chicago, Mooney had been a steady contributor to begin the season with 50-plus yards in three straight games entering play on Thursday. What followed was his first game with over 100 yards since the 2021 season. Perhaps even more encouraging is that, for as good as his numbers were, he left some plays on the field, including a bad drop on a deep ball that hit him right in the chest. While the state of Tampa Bay's secondary is part of the story, Mooney has reached a point where you can consider him for WR3 duty in advantageous matchups.

He has been a respectable WR4 or flex fantasy option in leagues of 12 or more teams. The Falcons are back in action on a short week Thursday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: A disaster in Chicago last year, Mooney has been rejuvenated, tallying 11 receptions, 154 yards, and a touchdown in a six-day span. He seems to have built a really nice rapport with Kirk Cousins, which could mean good things for the former 1,000-yard receiver. Coming off two good games in a row, Mooney is worth adding off the waiver wire as a nice depth addition that could offer WR3 value in the right situations.

He'll look to keep up the good work in Week 3 on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Atlanta Falcons WR Darnell Mooney will be relied on regularly this season with the new offense expected to feature three-receiver sets 90% of the time, according to Josh Kendall of The Athletic.
Huddle Up: Mooney has failed to crack 500 receiving yards in each of the past two seasons while in Chicago, but he did top 1,000 yards in 2021. Kirk Cousins should provide steady quarterback play, so a rebound season for Mooney isn't out of the question.
