Kansas City Chiefs WR Justyn Ross has made a highly favorable impression on quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who told reporters recently that "I can only imagine how good (Ross) is going to be because of the talent he possesses." "You still see the talent. That's the first thing. I mean you saw the catch (during organized team activities) on Twitter, but the way he catches the football out of the air, he snatches it. There are no drops or anything like that. ... I think you've seen the splashes of how talented he can be and then you see times where he's just barely off of what we wanted. And he learns from that and he doesn't make that same mistake. ... Just the more and more reps that he gets, I can only imagine how good he's going to be because of the talent that he possesses," Mahomes said.
Huddle Up: Were it not for multiple health issues (a congenital spine condition that required surgery and a stress fracture in his foot) during his time at Clemson, Ross would have likely been a Day 1 or Day 2 pick instead of an undrafted rookie free agent. Assuming he can avoid another health issue and/or injury, it is possible Kansas City may not be able to keep Ross out of the lineup. His talent is well worth taking a chance on as early as the middle of the second round in rookie drafts.

Undrafted free-agent WR Justyn Ross (Clemson) signed an undisclosed, three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, May 2. Ross led the ACC in receiving as a freshman in 2018, ranked fifth nationally with 21.7 yards per catch and was second in receiving touchdowns. A spinal injury put his career in jeopardy in 2020.

Alabama OT Evan Neal, Central Michigan OT Bernhard Raimann, Clemson WR Justyn Ross and Penn State CB Tariq Castro-Fields all failed medical exams with multiple teams, leading to Neal and Raimann being taken off draft boards, per sources. Neal did, however, receive a passing grade from other teams. Out of respect for their medical privacy, the specifics of each player's medical issues were not disclosed.
