Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Baker Mayfield (thumb) banged his thumb on a helmet in the Week 10 game against the Tennessee Titans, head coach Todd Bowles said Sunday, Nov. 12. While Mayfield was able to finish the game, sans for a kneel-down by backup QB Kyle Trask in Victory Formation, his status for Week 11 is uncertain.
Huddle Up: We'll keep an eye on any updates about Mayfield's status for Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers. If he cannot go, it would be Trask likely getting the starting nod. When Mayfield is healthy, he is still nothing more than a QB2 only worth starting as a bye week streamer or in leagues requiring two starting signal callers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield and QB Kyle Trask have been competing for starting quarterback job, but head coach Todd Bowles said the team does not have a timetable for when they will name the starter.
Huddle Up: Both Mayfield and Trask have played well at times during the preseason, but it seems that neither has won the job at this point. The winner of the job should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield will start the preseason opener, and QB Kyle Trask will start the second preseason game, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Huddle Up: No matter who wins this battle, they're going to be a meager QB2 option mostly useful in two-QB leagues.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield and QB Kyle Trask are listed atop the depth chart at quarterback.
Huddle Up: It's such an interesting look that Adam Schefter tweeted it's the first time he has seen "or" on a depth chart. Both QBs are meager QB2s in fantasy no matter who wins.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QBs Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask have had equal first-team reps at quarterback this offseason, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Huddle Up: Nothing is going to get decided now, so this is much ado about nothing. Mayfield will be considered the favorite entering training camp, and the job should be his so long as he does not fall flat on his face or Trask performs in practice in a way he hasn't shown the team in two-plus years. Mayfield should not be expected to be worthy of a bench spot in most fantasy leagues, but he could have appeal in superflex and two-quarterback leagues from time to time given his supporting cast.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask and QB Baker Mayfield will battle for the starting job in training camp, according to head coach Todd Bowles. "Game on," Bowles said.
Huddle Up: The Buccaneers still have some weapons at receiver, but regardless of who wins the quarterback competition, they are likely to plateau as a QB2.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask is in line to start and the team currently plans on building around him in 2023, the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud wrote on Monday, March 6.
Huddle Up: General manager Jason Licht mentioned how it was time to "pay the bills," which means Tampa is heading for a rebuild, even if he won't say those exact words. Barring a big move for a quarterback, Trask will likely get the keys to the car after sitting behind Tom Brady for two years and enters the fantasy radar in all formats. The problem is, we've seen almost nothing out of the third-year pro to know what he'll be and there's no telling what the Bucs' offense will look like if they blow it up, which could make things more difficult. Trask is a hold in dynasty formats with his status as the potential starter, but a lot can change between now and the start of the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask will have the opportunity to compete for the starting quarterback job during training camp, but the team plans to add one or two veteran quarterbacks to compete for the job.
Huddle Up: Trask has seen limited playing time since entering the NFL but seems to have a decent chance to be the starter in 2023. He likely will be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues if he wins the job.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask "has all the size, got the arm (and) got the stature" and mobile enough to lead former Tampa Bay head coach and current Buccaneers senior football consultant Bruce Arians to believe the team is "in good hands" with Trask.
Huddle Up: With Tom Brady retired and Blaine Gabbert heading to free agency, Trask is all the Bucs have at quarterback right now. Arians stopped short of telling The Rich Eisen Show that Trask would start in 2023, but Tampa Bay may not have a better alternative with its cap situation being what it is ($56-plus million over the cap per Over The Cap). Trask would undoubtedly have great weapons to work with in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but he was a marginal prospect coming out of the 2021 draft who has attempted only nine passes as a pro. He should be considered a middling fantasy QB2 at best in early drafts.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady completed 13-of-17 passes for 84 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons before giving way to QBs Blaine Gabbert and Kyle Trask. Gabbert tossed a TD in relief.
