Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask is in line to start and the team currently plans on building around him in 2023, the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud wrote on Monday, March 6.
Huddle Up: General manager Jason Licht mentioned how it was time to "pay the bills," which means Tampa is heading for a rebuild, even if he won't say those exact words. Barring a big move for a quarterback, Trask will likely get the keys to the car after sitting behind Tom Brady for two years and enters the fantasy radar in all formats. The problem is, we've seen almost nothing out of the third-year pro to know what he'll be and there's no telling what the Bucs' offense will look like if they blow it up, which could make things more difficult. Trask is a hold in dynasty formats with his status as the potential starter, but a lot can change between now and the start of the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask will have the opportunity to compete for the starting quarterback job during training camp, but the team plans to add one or two veteran quarterbacks to compete for the job.
Huddle Up: Trask has seen limited playing time since entering the NFL but seems to have a decent chance to be the starter in 2023. He likely will be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues if he wins the job.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask "has all the size, got the arm (and) got the stature" and mobile enough to lead former Tampa Bay head coach and current Buccaneers senior football consultant Bruce Arians to believe the team is "in good hands" with Trask.
Huddle Up: With Tom Brady retired and Blaine Gabbert heading to free agency, Trask is all the Bucs have at quarterback right now. Arians stopped short of telling The Rich Eisen Show that Trask would start in 2023, but Tampa Bay may not have a better alternative with its cap situation being what it is ($56-plus million over the cap per Over The Cap). Trask would undoubtedly have great weapons to work with in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but he was a marginal prospect coming out of the 2021 draft who has attempted only nine passes as a pro. He should be considered a middling fantasy QB2 at best in early drafts.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady completed 13-of-17 passes for 84 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons before giving way to QBs Blaine Gabbert and Kyle Trask. Gabbert tossed a TD in relief.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Blaine Gabbert has the edge over QB Kyle Trask for the team's backup quarterback job, according to head coach Todd Bowles. "I'm comfortable with Blaine," Bowles said. "We talk a lot. You know, we've gotten to know each other over the past couple of years. He knows this offense very well. He understands the offense very well. He knows where to go with the football because he's been in it. You know, that gives him the edge over Trask."

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask's potential excites the team, but general manager Jason Licht said the team will look at free agency, trades and the 2022 NFL Draft for possible quarterbacks.

Huddle Up: The Buccaneers likely will add at least one quarterback this offseason but there is a chance that Trask will have a chance to compete for the starting job. Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation because the starting quarterback should have some fantasy value.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Kyle Trask impressed the coaching staff by learning about 70 percent of the playbook during rookie minicamp, according to head coach Bruce Arians. 'He was throwing it to the right guy,' Arians said. 'There were some really good, disguised coverages that he saw the first day of his career, so I was really impressed with how he processes information, and he was very accurate.'

Florida QB Kyle Trask was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 64th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Huddle Up: Trask will be able to spend a few years behind Tom Brady and could be the quarterback of the future for the Bucs. He should be avoided in most leagues next season.
