Carolina Panthers WR Hunter Renfrow "(has) a lot in his game" and "just makes these huge strides (weekly)," according to head coach Dave Canales. "You see weekly, he just makes these huge strides, just getting his feet under him. And I can tell too, just having coached wide receivers especially, but he's got a lot in his game. Releases, top-of-the-route setup, avoidance, different things where he can double up stuff at the top of his routes. And you can see him kinda working through his inventory, kinda his tool bag - if you will. And it's been really cool, just to watch him, as his feet get underneath him and the explosiveness and all the little things show up, it's been really fun to see," Canales told reporters on Tuesday, May 27.
Huddle Up: Renfrow joined a crowded depth chart right after the draft and needs to have a solid camp to make the team after missing last season with ulcerative colitis. With that said, Renfrow has accomplished enough in the NFL to carve out a regular spot in Carolina if he can stay healthy, which might even include threatening Adam Thielen's spot on the roster since he is almost five years younger. Renfrow does not need to be drafted in fantasy right now, but managers need to monitor his progress this summer.

Carolina Panthers WR Hunter Renfrow (illness) dealt with challenges after a diagnosis of the autoimmune condition ulcerative colitis, which had left him with weight loss, fatigue, and high fevers. "It kicked my butt pretty good," Renfrow said. "Last year, I fluctuated in weight; I went down to 150 pounds. I had like seven straight days of 103-degree fevers. It's tough to play when you're not feeling great." Renfrow said he's back up to around 187 pounds.

Free-agent WR Hunter Renfrow (Raiders) agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, April 27.
Huddle Up: Renfrow sat out last year and is now three full seasons removed from snagging 103 with Las Vegas. The 29-year-old will battle to make the roster out of the slot, and he's a potential PPR flier with a strong offseason. For now, keep the sure-handed Clemson product on your watch list.
