Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp after receiving a second opinion on his injured shoulder.
Huddle Up: Although Richardson seems to have avoided a major injury, he still missed out on a lot of reps during minicamp. At this point, Daniel Jones has to be considered the frontrunner to open the year as the starter.

Updating an ongoing story, Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (shoulder) remains without a timeline to return after visiting Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the surgeon who operated on Richardson's AC joint last year, in Los Angeles for a checkup, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Huddle Up: With Richardson remaining out indefinitely, it's safe to presume QB Daniel Jones has the upper hand in this competition. We'll monitor this situation, but Richardson is no more valuable than a late-round fantasy flier when healthy.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is dealing with merely soreness and inflammation after imaging tests revealed that his shoulder is structurally sound, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Huddle Up: Fowler stated that Richardson threw "hundreds of footballs a day" at times during OTAs, which is likely what led to this issue. As a result, it sounds as though Richardson should be fine for the start of camp. While the consensus seems to favor Daniel Jones in Indy's quarterback competition this summer, Richardson easily offers the team its best chance to win if he improved his accuracy after working with a biometrics expert this spring. The winner of this competition could push for low-end QB1 production in fantasy.

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is not expected to need to undergo surgery on his injured shoulder.
Huddle Up: It seems like Richardson may not be ready for the start of training camp, so fantasy players should keep an eye on his recovery over the next few months. He is scheduled to compete with Daniel Jones for the starting quarterback but probably will be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins the job.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (shoulder) aggravated the right AC joint in his shoulder recently, according to head coach Shane Steichen. Per Steichen, the team hopes Richardson can return to practice "at some point" during training camp.
Huddle Up: Awful news for the third-year quarterback, who by all accounts was having a good offseason. Richardson's time away figures to allow Daniel Jones to handle the majority of first-team snaps, which may be the only opening the latter needed to win the starting job. With that said, Richardson still has a good chance at winning the quarterback competition if he can return early during training camp. Expect both players to make starts for the Colts this season.

Indianapolis Colts QBs Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones are engaging in an "open competition" where both players will split reps during organized team activities, according to head coach Shane Steichen. "We're breaking down the reps. They are both getting one reps. They're both getting two reps. I think through OTAs, we've got nine good practices. They'll both get about 170 reps a piece with those guys, with the ones and twos, and we'll flip-flop them. You guys were out there today. You saw how it worked, and that's how it's going to go. ... We have like first- (and) second-down day, then we have a third-down day. So we don't want one guy getting all the third-down reps with the ones. So, we're going to flip it that way, and then we go to a red zone day. It's the same reason," Steichen said.
Huddle Up: Steichen also made it a point to highlight some fundamental and technical improvements Richardson has made since last season. Fantasy managers should not expect a resolution to this competition until early to mid-August, as Steichen undoubtedly wants to have one player win the job convincingly and keep it for as long as possible. Since both quarterbacks are very good runners, the winner of this competition is worth monitoring for fantasy purposes.

Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard said he believes there is a good chance that both QB Anthony Richardson and QB Daniel Jones will see playing time in 2025.
Huddle Up: Richardson and Jones will compete for the starting job leading up to the 2025 season, so fantasy players will need to monitor the situation. Richardson likely has more fantasy value than Jones at this point, but neither may be more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson will not ask for a trade even though the team is adding QB Daniel Jones to compete with him, according to his agent.
Huddle Up: Richardson's play has been inconsistent since entering the NFL but will have a chance to compete with Jones for the starting job during training camp. Fantasy players should keep an eye on the situation because Richardson will have some fantasy value if he plays.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson plans to work out with Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen at some point this offseason, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.
Huddle Up: Richardson is expected to have competition for the starting job next season so working with Allen should help him improve his play. He is a solid fantasy option when playing and could be at least a high-end No. 2 quarterback if he starts.

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson will indeed face an open competition for the starting job after previous speculation, general manager Chris Ballard confirmed Tuesday, Feb. 25. The Colts will bring in a player to challenge him, likely in free agency, according to The Athletic's Zak Keefer.
Huddle Up: Richardson has flashed a few times as a pro, but injuries and erratic play have him fighting for the starting gig. Taking a step forward in Year 3 starts with fending off the unnamed competition by way of being more accurate as a passer. One has to expect the organization prefers the former first-rounder wins given the investment. Until we know more, the reality is Richardson's fantasy draft stock is at its lowest point over his short career.
