Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard signed a two-year, $10.3 million extension Tuesday, Sept. 3. He received a raise to $5.9 million in 2019 and $11 million over two seasons. He receives a guaranteed $600,000 bonus in March.
Huddle Up: Bernard has some RB5 pop in PPR leagues, but he isn't utilized enough to be much more than a handcuff to Joe Mixon.

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard will not play in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 10.
Huddle Up: Mixon will be the main running back for the Bengals and will receive plenty of touches each game. He can be considered a No. 2 running back in all leagues. Bernard should have a role in the passing game and could be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (hamstring) was held out of practice Monday, Aug. 5, because he is dealing with a slight hamstring injury, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Huddle Up: Bernard may miss the first preseason game, but it appears like he should return in the near future. He should be the No. 2 running back for the Bengals this season and can also be involved in the passing game. He has a chance to be a late-round option in fantasy drafts.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is expected to see 11-13 touches per game in 2019, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, and Dehner expects Bernard and RB Joe Mixon to be on the field at the same time more often this season.
Huddle Up: He was used sparingly last year, but if he and Mixon are used together, it should boost Bernard's usage, especially in the passing game. He's worth grabbing as a RB4 in PPR formats, and Mixon owners should prioritize him as a handcuff.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard 'is reportedly lining up all over the field' as head coach Zac Taylor aims to implement 'an unpredictable offense with myriad formations and personnel arrangements,' according to NFL.com's Grant Gordon.
'We've got a good backfield right now with Joe (Mixon) and Gio to start. It's good to get them both out here and take the load off of each other and help the young guys come along. Happy with what I am seeing from both of those guys. They are dialed in and focused. We are in good shape with those guys,' Taylor said.
Huddle Up: Barring a long absence from Mixon this season, Bernard isn't going to make a huge impact in fantasy. With that said, he's a good candidate to bounce back. Last year's 91 total touches and 429 total yards were both easily career lows. Even with competition coming in the form of rookie sixth-round pick Trayveon Williams, Bernard should see about 130 touches, which would be enough to put him in the RB4/RB5 conversation in most leagues.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard has spent time with the first-team offense during spring practices, and head coach Zac Taylor said he hopes to spread out carries more this year to keep RB Joe Mixon fresh for late in the season.
Huddle Up: Mixon emerged as workhorse for the Bengals offense last year, leading the AFC in rushing Even if the new coaching staff dials back Mixon's touches a bit, it is still hard to see Bernard being anything more than a handcuff for Mixon owners.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard caught two passes for zero yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16. He did not receive any carries during the game.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed three times for seven yards and caught two passes for 13 yards in a 26-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14.
Huddle Up: Bernard has taken a back seat to Joe Mixon, and his role has only decreased amid a rash of injuries to the Cincinnati offense. He is only a handcuff to Mixon at this point.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed five times for 14 yards in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos and he added six receptions for 32 yards on eight targets.
Huddle Up: Bernard did OK for those using him as a low-end RB3 or flex option in PPR, but he has very little use in standard play as long as Joe Mixon is healthy. The Bengals travel to meet the Chargers in Week 14.
