Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu (knee) is practicing with the team Sunday, Aug. 21, about 35 weeks after tearing his ACL.
Huddle Up: Don't look for 'Honey Badger' to play in the preseason, but his ability to seamlessly defend wide receivers as a cornerback or tight ends as a safety is a big deal for a team with Super Bowl aspirations like the Cardinals. Considering he has yet to experience any setbacks, expect Mathieu to be ready for Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu (knee) and DT Frostee Rucker are two weeks away from being able to practice, according to head coach Bruce Arians. CB Justin Bethel (foot) and DE Robert Nkemdiche (ankle) should be back in even less time.
Huddle Up: Among the top IDP defensive backs, a healthy Mathieu offers big-play ability to a fantasy roster. Consider him a somewhat risky DB2 in standard IDP setups.

Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to head coach Bruce Arians. He is out for the rest of the season.
Huddle Up: It's a tough blow for the Cardinals' defense. Mathieu was playing at an elite level this season. For fantasy purposes, the Cardinals will still be worth starting against the Packers this week but they will now be short-handed.

The Arizona Cardinals have declared FS Tyrann Mathieu, LB Alex Okafor, TE Darren Fells, OG Earl Watford, LB Glenn Carson, DL Kareem Martin and QB Logan Thomas, inactive for Week 1.
Huddle Up: The hopes for the play-making safety's Week 1 comeback turned out to be a little too optimistic following his late-season 2013 knee injury, but his return isn't too far off.

Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu (knee) tackled in practice Thursday, Sept. 4, for the first time since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament last December, but head coach Bruce Arians said he still needs more reps to regain a comfort level with tackling.
Huddle Up: It's always been a bit of longshot for Mathieu to see action in the opener, so IDP owners will need to be patient.

Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu (knee) will need to play in the final preseason game if he wants the chance to play Week 1. Mathieu said he believes there is a good chance that he will be able to play in Thursday's exhibition contest.
Huddle Up: This would be a needed dose of good news for an Arizona defense that has had more than its share of personnel losses (Karlos Dansby, Daryl Washington & Darnell Dockett) this offseason. Mathieu had 2 interceptions, 1 sack, 9 passes defensed and 68 total tackles in the 13 games before his rookie year was cut short last season.

Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu (knee) said he expects to be practicing in two to three weeks.
Huddle Up: Mathieu missed the final 3 games of his rookie season, but the Cards' D could use his return as it will be missing one of its top playmakers with LB Daryl Washington getting smacked with a yearlong suspension.
