Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith will be the starting quarterback for the Seahawks next season, according to head coach Mike Macdonald.
Huddle Up: Smith has been the starter for the Seahawks for the last several seasons and is on track to keep that role for at least one more season. He has thrown for at least 4,200 yards in two of the last three seasons but probably will be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues next season.

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith could receive a contract extension this offseason so the team can lower his salary cap number for next season. He is currently expected to count $44.5 million against the cap in 2025.
Huddle Up: Smith ranked in the top five this season with 4,320 passing yards and also threw 21 touchdowns during the season. He likely will continue to be the starting quarterback for the next few years but probably is only a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues.

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith led all qualified quarterbacks with an on-target rate of 81.8% during the 2024 season, according to Pro Football Reference.
Huddle Up: Not only was Smith's on-target mark a career best, but it was also accompanied by a career-low 10.4% bad-throw rate. Smith has no guaranteed money left on the final season of the three-year contract extension he signed back in 2023, but he has probably done enough during his time as the starter in Seattle to play out the deal. He will do so this year under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who got the offense off to a great start in New Orleans this season before injuries ravaged the unit. Unfortunately, Kubiak's arrival is unlikely to provide Smith with enough of a bump to move him up from middling QB2 territory for fantasy purposes.

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith completed 20 of his 27 passes for 223 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in a 30-25 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18.

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith (knee) completed 17 of his 23 passes for 160 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions versus the Chicago Bears on Thursday, Dec. 26. Smith added 19 yards on three rushing attempts.
Huddle Up: Outside of a promising opening drive that ultimately short circuited in the red zone, the Seahawks struggled to move the ball all night. Still, they won, which sets up a potentially meaningful Week 18 game depending on what the Rams (and perhaps other teams) do this weekend. Smith also gets extra time to rest his balky knee. The veteran has had just three games this season where he's passed for multiple touchdowns, but one of them came against LA back on Nov. 3 when he put up 363 yards, 3 TDs, and 3 INTs. If the NFC West hangs in the balance, Smith might be worth deploying in Week 18.

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith (knee) admitted Tuesday, Dec. 24, that he's still feeling the effects of a Week 15 knee injury. "It's going to be there for a while. But got to keep pushing," Smith said.
Huddle Up: He's the QB12 on the season, but he's the QB22 over the last five games. It's expected to be cold and rainy against the Chicago Bears Thursday night, and he's a meager QB2 in fantasy with emphasis expected to be on the run game.

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith completed 31 of his 43 passes for 314 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16.

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith (knee) practiced in full for the third consecutive day on Friday, Dec. 20, and carries no designation for Week 16.
Huddle Up: Smith playing is good news for Seahawks pass-catchers, but in a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings' elite defense, he isn't a suggested lineup option.

Seattle Seahawks TE Brady Russell (foot) and LB Trevis Gipson (ankle) did not practice on Friday, Dec. 20, and were ruled out for Week 16. Also, S K'Von Wallace (ankle) practiced in full but was ruled out, DL Johnathan Hankins (illness, rest) did not practice but carries no designation and RB Zach Charbonnet (oblique), RB Kenneth Walker III (calf), WR DK Metcalf (shoulder), C Olu Oluwatimi (knee), DE Leonard Williams (foot, rest), CB Tre Brown (hamstring), TE Noah Fant (knee), LB Ernest Jones (knee), OT Abraham Lucas (rest, knee), TE AJ Barner (knee) and QB Geno Smith (knee) practiced in full and were removed from the injury report.

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 19.
Huddle Up: Smith has not had any limitations during practice this week and should be ready to play in the Week 16 game. He should have most of his pass catchers available for the game but can be avoided in most leagues.
