New York Jets QB Geno Smith has been testing all three levels of the defense and really wants to push the ball downfield.
Huddle Up: This can be a gift and a curse for fantasy purposes. It sounds like he wants to throw for a whole lot of yards and a whole lot of INTs. Smith is a matchup play as a QB2.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith completed all of his passes in both seven-on-seven drills and team drills during practice Saturday, Aug. 1.
Huddle Up: Smith will be the Jets starting quarterback for the second time in his career this season and will have some good offensive weapons available in the passing game. He should be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Updating previous reports, New York Jets QB Geno Smith won't be charged from a June 21 incident in which a woman claimed domestic violence. The woman, a longtime friend and casual intimate parter of Smith's who provides paid childcare for his son in her multifaceted role as his "manager," did not show up to two appointments to provide a sworn statement to police and later had her attorney inform officers that she would not be providing one.
Huddle Up: Since the criminal case won't continue, it's hard to see the league disciplining him as well. Smith remains a midrange QB2 best utilized in two-QB leagues.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith was previously accused of assault, and the case is now considered "inactive," according to the Davie (FL) Police Department.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith is being investigated by Davie, FL police for assault allegations stemming from an incident that took place on Sunday, according to a source on Monday, June 22.
Huddle Up: Smith was signed in the offseason with the expectation of being the Jets' starting quarterback for 2026, More news will come out, but if he's available for Week 1, he'll be a low-end streaming quarterback and a mid-range QB2 in 2-QB formats.

The New York Jets are expected to continue looking for veteran quarterback help, although head coach Aaron Glenn recently said that he is fine with the team's current quarterback situation. New York Jets QB Brady Cook, who started games down the stretch in 2025 due to injuries, is battling rookie QB Cade Klubnik and veteran journeyman QB Bailey Zappe for the backup job to starter QB Geno Smith.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith is a perfect fit for the team's new offensive scheme, according to offensive coordinator Frank Reich.
Huddle Up: The Jets added Smith this offseason, and he should be the starting quarterback for at least the 2026 season. He will have a solid group of pass catchers to work with but is only a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Free-agent QB Russell Wilson (Giants) was hosted for a visit by the New York Jets and is reportedly being considered as an option to be Geno Smith's backup, according to The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt on Tuesday, April 28.
Huddle Up: Starting three games for the New York Giants last season, Wilson put up the worst completion percentage of his career and threw three touchdowns to three interceptions. No matter where Wilson lands in 2026, he's a dire fantasy option at quarterback unless he can turn the clock back a decade.

New York Jets HC Aaron Glenn told media on Tueaday, March 31, he believes in QB Geno Smith can "lead us to the promised land."
Huddle Up: Smith is coming off one of the worst seasons in his career after being benched late in the season by the Las Vegas Raiders. He comes to New York for a fresh start but it will be hard for fantasy players to by into him bouncing back in 2026.
