Week 12

New Orleans Saints QB Jake Haener relieved a mostly ineffective Spencer Rattler in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers and finished 9-of-17 for 122 yards. Haener did not throw for a touchdown or an interception and ran for 10 yards on two carries.
Huddle Up: Not much needs to be said here. Neither quarterback (Rattler or Haener) has been able to move the ball with much consistency since Derek Carr (oblique) got hurt in Week 5. Carr should be ready to return in Week 9 versus the Carolina Panthers, who the Saints trounced 47-10 in Week 1. Neither Rattler nor Haener should be on most fantasy rosters.

New Orleans Saints QB Spencer Rattler completed 12-of-24 passes for 156 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers before getting benched in the second half in favor of QB Jake Haener.
Huddle Up: Rattler wasn't really a viable fantasy option outside of deeper leagues using two starting signal callers, and even then, on a full week with no teams on a bye, it was a stretch to start the rookie. You can drop him in all leagues if you were hanging onto Rattler for some reason.

New Orleans Saints QB Jake Haener completed 2-of-7 passes for 17 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in relief of the injured QB Derek Carr (oblique) with roughly six minutes remaining in regulation.
Huddle Up: Haener could potentially get the starting nod in Week 6 if Carr is unable to play due to his oblique injury, but it's way too early to determine that. If Carr cannot go, the offense would have a much more ground-based attack, most likely. Let's re-visit Wednesday once the first practice report is released for Tampa week.

New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr (oblique) left the Week 5 game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to an oblique injury, and he walked off to the locker room with about six minutes remaining in regulation. QB Jake Haener is the team's primary backup QB. Carr was 18-of-28 for 165 yards, two touchdowns and one interception before departing.
Huddle Up: Carr's status is obviously not yet known, as he was simply headed off to the locker room. It certainly doesn't appear he'll return to Monday's game. The Saints host a huge game in the NFC South against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6. We'll know more about his status for that game shortly.

New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr completed 19-of-23 passes for 200 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers, while adding 13 rushing yards on two attempts. He was rested late in the second half with a lopsided score, giving QB Jake Haener some time under center.

New Orleans Saints QB Jake Haener (illness) returned to practice on Wednesday, Aug. 7, after undergoing a medical procedure related to skin cancer earlier in the week.

New Orleans Saints QB Jake Haener (illness) is scheduled to undergo a procedure on Monday, Aug. 5, to address the skin cancer concern that was discovered last week.

New Orleans Saints QB Jake Haener (illness) is reportedly dealing with a rare form of skin cancer and is out indefinitely, according to ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell. According to Haener, the skin cancer is not life-threatening but more of a matter of how long he can wait before he needs to address it.

New Orleans Saints QB Spencer Rattler worked with the second-team offense during portions of minicamp, and head coach Dennis Allen expects Rattler and QB Jake Haener to battle for the backup job throughout training camp.

New Orleans Saints S J.T. Gray (hamstring), OT Landon Young (hip), OT James Hurst (ankle), OT Ryan Ramczyk (concussion) and LB Demario Davis (knee) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 16. S Lonnie Johnson (hamstring), DE Cameron Jordan (back), S Tyrann Mathieu (foot) and OG Andrus Peat (groin) were limited during practice. QB Jake Haener (non-injury) fully participated in practice. The Saints did not hold a practice Monday, so this is an estimation.
