Washington Commanders DT Jer'Zhan Newton (pectoral) reportedly underwent surgery in New York today for a torn pectoral muscle and is expected to miss significant time, according to a source on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Washington Commanders DT Jer'Zhan Newton (pectoral) suffered a pectoral injury during the first preseason game and is scheduled to meet with a specialist to determine the severity of the injury, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said Newton may be dealing with a long-term injury.
