New Orleans Saints WR Mason Tipton had six receptions for 100 yards on eight targets in the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Huddle Up: Tipton is behind veterans Brandin Cooks, Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed on the depth chart, but he appears locked into the No. 4 job, ahead of the likes of Kevin Austin Jr., Donovan Peoples-Jones, Dante Pettis and Cedrick Wilson Jr., especially with Bub Means on injured reserve. He has shown ability to make big plays downfield, and he might just be an injury away from being a serviceable WR5 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. For now, just monitor him in the early portion of the season.

New Orleans Saints WR Mason Tipton made his only reception count in the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday, Aug. 10, going for a 54-yard touchdown from rookie QB Tyler Shough.
Huddle Up: Tipton showed off tremendous speed downfield on the third-quarter score. He is in a battle for the No. 4 receiver job with Cedrick Wilson Jr. and Bub Means. The latter was knocked out of Sunday's game with an injury. Even if Tipton wins the No. 4 job, though, his fantasy appeal would be limited to deeper formats, especially since the QB play in New Orleans is a bit on the shaky side.

New Orleans Saints WR Mason Tipton caught six passes (on nine targets) for 45 yards versus the Denver Broncos on Thursday, Oct. 17.
Huddle Up: Tipton entered play Thursday night with 11 targets on the year. He saw nine in the game. Obviously, the Saints being short-handed at receiver played a big role. Let's see how he follows it up in Week 8.

New Orleans Saints WR Mason Tipton has earned praise from head coach Dennis Allen for his performance in training camp, particularly as a deep threat. "I think he's got the skill set," Allen said. "He's a smaller player, but he's got some real good quickness and he's a savvy route runner. He's got really explosive speed down the field. I think as we go throughout training camp, we'll have to see what are all those things that he can do."
