The Minnesota Vikings claimed RB Ameer Abdullah off waivers from the Detroit Lions Wednesday, Nov. 7.
Huddle Up: If nothing else, Abdullah provides the Vikings with somewhat of an insurance policy incase Dalvin Cook's injury issues worsen or don't subside. When Cook and Latavius Murray are both healthy, though, Abdullah owns no fantasy value.

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah had just one reception for six yards on one target in the Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks and he lost a fumble.
Huddle Up: If Abdullah was hoping to cut into Kerryon Johnson's workload, losing a fumble on just one touch wasn't the way to do it. If you've been holding out hope Abdullah might re-emerge as a fantasy option, it's safe to drop him at this point.

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah will need an injury to one of Detroit's other three backs in order to become part of the rotation again, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah said he is not in the position he wants to be in the offense, but he is staying ready in case his 'number is called' and isn't changing his work ethic.

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah is on the roster bubble as the team has a hard decision to make before the 53-man roster deadline, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Huddle Up: Abdullah has a ton of talent and a checkered injury history. He's worth stashing as an RB5 to see where he could wind up.

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah said he was frustrated with the role he had in 2017 because he did not receive consistent touches during games.
Huddle Up: Abdullah probably will not have a big role in the offense again this season with LeGarrette Blount, Kerryon Johnson and Theo Riddick on the roster. Owners should monitor his situation during training camp to see what role he will receive, but he likely will not be a great fantasy option.

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah would presumably be the easiest running back to move from the roster this offseason because he?s in the final season of his rookie contract and his role appears to be less defined than LeGarrette Blount's or Theo Riddick's, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.
Huddle Up: Abdullah could never get or stay on the good side of the previous administration in Detroit despite being the clear top back on the roster, and he is not tied to the either the general manager or the head coach in place now. At this point, he would likely benefit from a change of scenery. If he gets dealt this spring or summer, Abdullah could finally live up to his previous fantasy hype if he can find a way to improve his ball security and durability.
