Huddle Up: Johnson's previous work with LaPorta is sure to push Loveland up draft boards, though whether he deserves to be viewed as a legitimate TE1 is debatable. Looking at the position overall, things seem to thin out around TE8, and then it becomes more of a "beauty in the eye of the beholder type of thing" with names like Evan Engram, Jonnu Smith, Tucker Kraft, Dallas Godert, Jake Ferguson, and Dalton Kincaid in that TE9-TE15 range. You could certainly make a case based on talent, fit, and opportunity that Loveland could outperform all of them, though the presence of Kmet, not to mention DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and Luther Burden, might lead to fewer opportunities than some are anticipating.

Huddle Up: It seems like Loveland will be back on the field at some point during camp and should be ready to play Week 1. He probably will see a limited workload during his rookie season unless Cole Kmet suffers and injury and will only be a possible No. 2 tight end in deeper fantasy leagues.

Huddle Up: Loveland will have plenty of competition for targets, but head coach Ben Johnson was able to utilize a variety of weapons during his time as the offensive coordinator in Detroit. Consider Loveland a TE2 with upside.

Huddle Up: Loveland has plenty of time to rehab his shoulder and likely will be ready for training camp. He should see a handful of targets each game and can be a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Huddle Up: Loveland should have a role in the passing game right away but probably will not be a starting fantasy option to start the season. Fantasy players can consider him a No. 2 fantasy tight end entering the 2025 season.

Huddle Up: Loveland probably will not see the field until training camp as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery, but it obviously bodes well that Johnson thinks that highly of him. The difference between the two situations is that Loveland will face immediate competition for snaps from a good tight end in Cole Kmet (LaPorta did not have that during Johnson's tenure in Detroit) and Chicago has more competition for targets (DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden) than LaPorta did.

Huddle Up: The Bears have Cole Kmet on the roster, but Loveland should still have a role in the passing game as a rookie. Fantasy players should monitor the situation during the offseason to have a better understanding of his role. He probably can be considered a No. 2 fantasy tight end at this time.
