Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff will remain the focal point of the offense, according to new offensive coordinator John Morton. Morton spent a year as senior offensive assistant in 2022. "I think it's big because it all starts with the quarterback," Morton said. "Just kind of knowing him -- and when I was here, I was in the quarterback room. So, I have a feel of what he likes, what he doesn't. That's important as a play-caller. We'll continue here when the players come back and stuff, so I'll get to know more about him and the plays that he really likes a lot and what they've been doing good here."
Huddle Up: Goff was a surprise as the QB6 in fantasy, and provided he remains healthy, he could be in the QB7-12 range again next season. Look at him as a potential value pick in the middle of the QB run in your draft.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff recorded 203 pass attempts on play-action in 2024, according to Pro Football Reference. The mark was not only a career high, but it was 52 more such attempts than second-place Matthew Stafford.
Huddle Up: While it makes a lot of sense for Detroit to use the threat of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery as often as possible, the concern for Goff's present and future fantasy managers is that the new offensive coordinator will not feature play-action as often as predecessor Ben Johnson did. Goff should still be a reliable low-end fantasy starter given his supporting cast, but he may not have quite the upside he occasionally did under Johnson.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff led the NFL with 2,060 passing yards on play action passes during the regular season.
Huddle Up: Goff will be working with a new offensive coordinator next season, so it is not known if he will be able to have similar numbers in 2025. He should still have most of his pass catchers next season but is probably a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff completed 23 of his 40 passes for 313 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions in a 45-31 loss to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round. He also lost a fumble. RB Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 14 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns and caught six passes for 70 yards. RB David Montgomery added seven carries for 28 yards, and WR Jameson Williams had a 61-yard touchdown run to go along with one catch for 19 yards. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown had eight catches for 137 yards, and TE Sam LaPorta added six grabs for 51 yards and a score. LB Jack Campbell finished with a team-igh 14 tackles, and LB Alex Anzalone logged 13 tackles, including 12 solo stops.

Huddle Up: Goff was crushed while trying to make a tackle on a pick six. If he is unable to return, Teddy Bridgewater will have to lead the Detroit offense.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff completed 27 of his 33 passes for 231 yards with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions during the club's Week 18 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
Huddle Up: While Goff threw a couple of bad picks, he settled down and helped Detroit put the Vikings away with a dominant second-half performance to give the Lions an NFC North banner and first-round bye. They can potentially face the Rams, Commanders, Packers, or Vikings in the Divisional Round. Goff should be a clear QB1 in any of those matchups.

Huddle Up: The Lions and 49ers were locked in a shootout in the first half, but the Niners waned as the game progressed while Goff kept on chugging right along. He'll be a QB1 in Week 18.

Huddle Up: Goff is up to 33 touchdown passes on the year, and he has 13 in the last four games. A Week 17 matchup against San Francisco isn't the friendliest, but it is hard to bench him when he is playing this well.
