Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff has agreed to restructure his contract, which has created $15 million in salary cap space for the Lions.
Huddle Up: Goff will be the starting quarterback for the Lions for the foreseeable future but will have to build chemistry with a new group of pass catchers. He should only be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Incoming Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff likely will be asked to restructure his contract this offseason because the team can create around $15 million if they rework the deal.
Huddle Up: Goff will be the Lions starting quarterback for at least next season, but it is not known if he will be the quarterback of the future for the Lions. He probably will be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback because the team may lose their top three receivers in free agency.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff leads all quarterbacks with 376 completions and 5,176 yards passing off play-action since 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.
Huddle Up: There's no question being the triggerman in Sean McVay's offense has something to do with Goff thriving in play-action, as few play-callers rely more heavily on it than he does. With that said, Goff has proven to be quite accurate when he isn't feeling pressured and the combination of bootlegs and play-action play a role in helping him feel more comfortable. While the Lions may rely more heavily on play-action than they have in previous years with a new regime in place, Goff is highly unlikely to be anything more than a middling QB2 in Detroit.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff is considered to be the team's starter 'moving forward,' according to ESPN's Jeff Darlington.
Huddle Up: There were some rumors floating around that perhaps Goff was acquired by the Lions with the intent of flipping him for additional assets, but it sounds as though the team plans to give Goff the starting job and see what he can do. What his fantasy appeal will be is unclear as the Lions look to be in the early stages of a thorough rebuild, and it remains to be seen who will fill out Detroit's roster for 2021.

Incoming Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff said he is excited to be joining the Lions and believes he can help build a winning team. The Lions have agreed to acquire Goff from the Los Angeles Rams.
Huddle Up: Goff had success with the Rams but will have to learn a new offensive scheme this offseason. His receiving corps is also a question mark with Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones free agents. Fantasy players probably should consider Goff a No. 2 fantasy quarterback next season.

Los Angeles Rams QBs Jared Goff and John Wolford are expected to take part in an 'open competition' for the starting quarterback job in training camp, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This assumes that the Rams don't trade Goff during the offseason.
Huddle Up: Given Goff's contract situation it seems highly unlikely that he'll be anywhere other than LA in 2021, but the team seems ready to open up the position to give Wolford a shot at the QB1 job. In a potentially high-powered offense under the stewardship of Sean McVay, the winner would carry QB2 fantasy value with some upside potential.

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff is not guaranteed a roster spot for the 2021 season, according to comments made by general manager Les Snead on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Snead reportedly declined to provide a yes/no answer when he was 'asked repeatedly if there's a scenario' where Goff wouldn't be on the roster and referenced a recent quote from Aaron Rodgers about the future being 'a beautiful mystery,' according to ESPN's Lindsey Thiry.
Huddle Up: Amazingly, the four-year, $134 million extension Goff signed before the start of the 2019 season has yet to kick in, meaning the Rams would be admitting to a huge mistake if they parted ways with the former No. 1 overall pick. In all likelihood, Los Angeles will bring in a strong veteran and/or an early draft pick to give Goff a run for his money in camp. A trade is an unlikely possibility as well since Goff is due more than $25 million in 2021.

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff's recent inconsistent play has left his status as the starting quarterback for the 2021 season in the air and may lead the team to bring in someone who can push him, according to comments made by the NFL Network's Steve Wyche. 'The people I've spoken to said basically at this moment the relationship with Goff and (head coach Sean) McVay: not great. They need marriage counseling is what one person said to me. I think this is something that they're going to be able to work through, but there's got to be some healing and that's not just with Jared Goff's injured thumb,' Wyche said.
Huddle Up: Goff was very good in McVay's first two seasons (2017 and 2018), but it would seem that once opponents figured out how to slow down Todd Gurley late during the second half of the 2018 campaign, Goff started to get exposed. It's also possible that the defections of Sammy Watkins and Brandin Cooks have given defenses less to worry about vertically or that he is feeling the pressure of playing under his four-year, $134 million contract that he signed in September of 2019. Whatever the reason(s), fantasy owners should expect him to compete for his job in camp this summer.

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff (thumb) fully participated in practice Thursday, Jan. 14, and is not on the injury report for the Divisional Round playoff game.
Huddle Up: Goff had a solid outing in relief during the Wild Card playoff game but may be without Cooper Kupp this week. Fantasy players probably can find a better option to use and can keep Goff on the bench.

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff (thumb) will start Saturday, Jan. 16, in the divisional playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, Rams head coach Sean McVay said Thursday. Blake Bortles will serve as the backup.
Huddle Up: Goff came in early for injured starter John Wolford (neck) in last Saturday's wild-card win over the Seahawks, but completed only 9-of-19 passes for 155 yards and a TD while playing with his surgically repaired thumb.
