New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) is expected to be sidelined for three to seven weeks as he recovers from mononucleosis. For now, he has been quarantined away from the team.
Huddle Up: Trevor Siemian will be the Jets' starting quarterback in Darnold's stead but he has little fantasy value outside of deeper two-quarterback leagues. Expect the team to rely more heavily on RB Le'Veon Bell during this stretch, while the stock of WRs Robby Anderson and Jamison Crowder will plummet.

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) isn't likely to be placed on the Reserve/Injured list as he deals with a bout of mononucleosis, head coach Adam Gase said Friday, Sept. 13.
Huddle Up: A trip to IR even with a return would mean Darnold would be out two months, but he is expected to recover well before then. Keep him around if you have the roster space in deeper two-QB leagues, but in other cases you're going to need help for the next 2-3 weeks at least.

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) could be sidelined until October as he deals with mononucleosis, in the opinion of one injury expert.
Huddle Up: A tough way to start Year 2 for Darnold, who is regarded as one of the league's top up-and-coming young quarterbacks. Keep him around if you have an open IR slot in your two-QB league, but others will need to look for help elsewhere over the next few weeks.

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) will miss the Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns. Head coach Adam Gase said Darnold could miss multiple weeks with mononucleosis.
Huddle Up: Trevor Siemian will draw the start, and Robby Anderson and Jamison Crowder will lose some luster. However, Le'Veon Bell figures to be leaned on heavily and will serve as a high-end RB1. Siemian doesn't deserve consideration. Anderson and Crowder are flex options, but they don't have a lot of upside this week.

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold has impressed Jets wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson in his second season. 'It's everything,' Jefferson said of Darnold. 'The way that he works -- he's here early in the morning, he stays after, he probably doesn't leave this building until six, seven at night. He's in the old quarterback room. I've been so impressed with this kids work ethic and the way he attacks everything. It's just been awesome to see a young kid like that. It's almost like he's been here before. He's a young guy, but he has a lot of veteran attributes to him.'
Huddle Up: Darnold now has a year under his belt, and his supporting cast has improved, but he's still a low-end QB2 at best right now for fantasy purposes.

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold called new head coach Adam Gase 'awesome' and added he is looking forward to his second NFL season. 'It's going to be fun to attack this year,' Darnold said Tuesday, April 23, at the team's voluntary minicamp. '... Good things to come.'
Huddle Up: Darnold showed some definite flashes as a rookie, throwing for 2,865 yards, 17 TDs and 15 interceptions in 13 games while finishing 27th among fantasy QBs. A jump to QB2 range in Year 2 is certainly on the table.
