Cleveland Browns QB Jacoby Brissett will likely start in place of QB Deshaun Watson if he gets suspended, ESPN's Jake Trotter said. Trotter notes that QB Baker Mayfield has "no intention of playing for the Browns again," and "Cleveland has no plans for this to happen, either."
Huddle Up: While this doesn't come as much of a surprise, we were at least holding out hope Mayfield would start in place of Watson if suspended. If Brissett takes the reins, he is not a viable fantasy option outside of two quarterback leagues and every Cleveland pass-catcher will get downgraded massively.

The Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield have mutual interest in a trade, per sources.
Huddle Up: It was recently reported that the Seahawks are not only interested in trading for Mayfield, but would also consider extending him if acquired. Adding Mayfield would be a sizeable upgrade for all Seahawks pass-catchers, as they are currently set to catch passes from either Drew Lock or Geno Smith. Mayfield would be a midrange QB2 in Seattle.

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield is still a trade option for the Seattle Seahawks, and the Seahawks would be open to signing him to an extension if they acquire him, according to a source.
Huddle Up: The Seahawks have Geno Smith and Drew Lock on the roster, but Mayfield likely would be the starter if he joins Seattle. He would have two terrific receivers to work with in the passing game but would only be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

The Cleveland Browns are willing to pick up half of QB Baker Mayfield's salary in a trade, MMQB's Albert Breer reported on Friday, June 17. "They're willing to take on a fair amount of Baker's salary," Breer said. "Like nine, 10 million dollars."

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield remains a trade target of the Carolina Panthers and talks between the two teams continue, according to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones. He also reports there is urgency on Carolina's side to get a deal done so Mayfield can get time in minicamp. The sticking point remains how much of Mayfield's salary Cleveland will pick up.

Updating an ongoing story, Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield may need to take a salary reduction into the range of $12 to $14 million if he wants to be traded, according to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones. Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper refuses to pay Mayfield's full salary of $18 million in guaranteed money, but Jones posits there's a path to Mayfield being traded if Cleveland were to leave Carolina responsible for approximately $4 to $6 million in exchange for a Day 3 draft choice. Jones sees the deal happening as soon as the end of OTAs, provided Mayfield is indeed willing to take a cut in pay. Jones notes this is a similar path to what led Carolina to trade QB Teddy Bridgewater to the Denver Broncos in 2021.
Huddle Up: In Carolina, Mayfield would have to compete with Sam Darnold for the starting job, and such a scenario effectively would lead to rookie QB Matt Corral redshirting in 2022. The Panthers boast enough weaponry to put Mayfield into the low-end QB2 conversation, but that's about the height of his appeal.

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield is highly unlikely to be released anytime soon, but at least one source told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer recently that the Seattle Seahawks would be interested in signing him if Mayfield reaches the open market at some point this summer.

The Carolina Panthers don't have an "organizational consensus" when it comes to trading for Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield, according to a source. "The problem is, there doesn't seem to be organizational consensus in Carolina over Mayfield," Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on Sunday, May 29. "Some are much higher on him than others, which has been an issue, a source said. If they were all on the same page and all in, they could have him on the roster in time for their mandatory minicamp June 14-16 -- same as the Browns."

The Cleveland Browns "have no plans" to cut QB Baker Mayfield, even if he's still on the roster when training camp begins, according to a source.
