Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield said he is disappointed that the Buccaneers only offered him a two-year contract extension and that the team did not offer anything close to the $50 million per season he was looking for in the negotiations.
Huddle Up: Mayfield is entering the final year of his contract and has indicated that he will no longer be negotiating an extension with training camp started. He did see his numbers drop last season and lost one of his top targets in free agency. He can be considered a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield and the team have not come to an agreement on a contract extension, according to a Tuesday, July 28 report. The sides are done negotiating and Mayfield will play this season under his current contract.
Huddle Up: Mayfield struggled with multiple injuries last season but gutted out 17 games. He wound up being the QB12 in fantasy and will be a low-end QB1 again in a contract year. He threw for 3,693 yards in '26 - 807 fewer in '25 in the same number of games - and 26 touchdowns - 15 fewer than his '25 career high.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield would like to have a contract extension finalized by the time veterans report to training camp Tuesday, July 28, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. However, Fowler believes this is an "artificial deadline" and that intensified negotiations could continue beyond this point if necessary. Mayfield is entering the final season of a three-year, $100 million deal.
Huddle Up: Both sides are interested in a long-term deal but there is a chance that Mayfield could return to Tampa Bay in 2027 on a franchise tag if an extension is not agreed upon. He will have WR Emeka Egbuka coming back this season, along with multiple other pass catchers, and can be viewed as a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield said he played through a sprained medial collateral ligament, a sprained posterior collateral ligament, a biceps contusion and a shoulder injury during the 2025 season.
Huddle Up: Mayfield was able to play all 17 games last season but saw his passing yards and passing touchdowns drop a decent amount compared to 2024. He should be healthy when training camp starts but did lose one of his top pass catchers this offseason. He will likely be considered a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues this upcoming season.

Huddle Up: Mayfield battled through some injuries last year, but he still managed to toss 26 touchdowns, and he has 95 touchdown passes in his three seasons in Tampa Bay.
