Houston Texans TE Jordan Akins (hamstring) remained a limited participant at practice Thursday, Jan. 9.
Huddle Up: Akins wasn't able to play in the Wild Card Round against the Buffalo Bills. Back-to-back practices, albeit in a limited fashion, to start the week seemingly bode well for his status for the game Sunday, Jan. 12. He'll be worth a shot against the Kansas City Chiefs as a sneaky play.

Houston Texans TE Jordan Akins (hamstring) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Jan. 2.
Huddle Up: Akins emerged as a dependable option for QB Deshaun Watson in the regular season. He's matchup dependent, but he could see a fair amount of work in the game Saturday, Jan. 4, against the Buffalo Bills with Texans WRs Will Fuller and Kenny Stills also battling injuries.

Houston Texans TE Jordan Akins posted just three grabs for 21 yards on four targets in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers.
Huddle Up: Akins burst onto the fantasy scene with five catches, 73 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3, but he was nearly invisible in this one. Treat him as more of a TE2 in most fantasy formats heading into Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Houston Texans TE Jordan Akins impressed in his preseason debut with a pair of touchdown catches in the win against the Kansas City Chiefs. He is drawing praise from starting QB DeShaun Watson. 'It gives us an extra weapon on the field,' Watson said. 'We can go into a game with two tight ends, or one tight end, and we have a lot of guys that can go out there and run routes and make plays. So, he did a good job the other night of doing his job right and capitalized when his opportunity was there.'
Huddle Up: The former outfielder in the Texas Rangers system is making the transition to the NFL, and making it quickly. He is already slotted right behind Ryan Griffin on the team's depth chart, and he could see plenty of snaps if he continues to have a big preseason. He is trying to hold off retreads Jordan Thomas and MyCole Pruitt, among others, but looks to have the inside track for the No. 2 job. For fantasy purposes, he is only worth monitoring right now, but that would all change if Griffin were to go down to injury.

The Houston Texans picked UCF TE Jordan Akins with the 98th
overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Akins is a 26-year-old rookie, so he is a bit long in the tooth.
He is a former wide receiver and kick return specialist and he is
considered a very versatile athlete which is why he was nabbed on
Day 2. However, his blocking, or lack thereof, was one of the
knocks against him. He has a while before he emerges as a fantasy
