Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts has rushed seven times for 49 yards and one catch for three yards through six weeks, and head coach Doug Pederson told reporters Monday, Oct. 19, that he 'could see things continuing' in terms of his role increasing in the offense moving forward.
Huddle Up: To be clear, this appears to be more in response to the Eagles having virtually no healthy playmakers left at running back, wide receiver or tight end. Whatever the case, more Hurts doesn't help Carson Wentz's fantasy owners. It's unlikely Hurts sees enough time to be useful in fantasy this year barring an injury to Wentz, however.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is active for Week 2's game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Huddle Up: Hurts will serve as the Eagles' backup quarterback this afternoon and could be utilized in a role similar to how the New Orleans Saints use QB/WR Taysom Hill on offense. However, he should not be started in any fantasy format, especially since it is uncertain if how many offensive snaps (if any) he will receive versus the Rams. Last week's backup quarterback for Philadelphia, Nate Sudfeld, was declared inactive.

Philadelphia Eagles second-round pick QB Jalen Hurts is unlikely to be thrown into packages, at least early on, in the 2020 season, in the opinion of beat writer Mike Kaye. The Eagles view Hurts as a genuine quarterback, and they are likely to take the conservative approach with his development at the position.

Philadelphia Eagles second-round draft pick QB Jalen Hurts 'was drafted as a quarterback and is a quarterback first,' according to head coach Doug Pederson, who added that senior offensive consultant Marty Mornhinweg 'felt very similar to Jalen as he did Lamar (Jackson).'
Huddle Up: There were reports in March suggesting part of the rationale for the hiring of Mornhinweg this offseason was to bring in parts of the Ravens' offensive system. One strongly held belief is that Hurts will be used in a Swiss Army knife role similar to Taysom Hill, but it's also highly probable he gets deployed in the same way Jackson was as a rookie in 2018. The most likely outcome in 2020 is that Hurts won't see enough playing time to be relevant in fantasy unless Carson Wentz gets hurt.
