Pittsburgh Steelers QB Justin Fields said he expects to compete with QB Russell Wilson for the starting quarterback job during training camp.
Huddle Up: Wilson will open camp as the leading candidate for the job, but the team said Fields will have the chance to earn the job. Both should be upgrades over Kenny Pickett, but neither will be more than No. 2 fantasy quarterbacks to start the season.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson, QB Justin Fields and QB Kyle Allen were added to the roster this offseason, but general manager Omar Khan is not ruling out selecting a quarterback at some point after the first round of 2024 NFL Draft since all three of the new quarterbacks are on one-year contracts.

Former Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields, now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, had expressed interest in being traded to the Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings or Steelers prior to the start of free agency, according to a source familiar with his thinking.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson is first in the pecking order, followed by QB Justin Fields, head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed on Sunday, March 24. "We've been very transparent about the pecking order, at least to start," Tomlin said. "I just think that provides clarity for all parties involved. Russell is a veteran man. He's got a proven process of readiness. He's been in this league a long time."
Huddle Up: Wilson will enter the 2024 campaign after finishing as QB14 overall in 2023. However, Fields definitely has the higher upside of the two thanks to his ability to run and would be a borderline QB1, at worst, if he sees the field. Fantasy managers investing in Wilson would be wise to grab Fields, also.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Justin Fields has been told that he will be the No. 2 quarterback behind QB Russell Wilson.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation to see if anything changes, but it looks like Wilson will be the starting quarterback for the start of 2024. Wilson will be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in most leagues, while Fields likely will also be a No. 2 QB if he takes over the job.

Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday, March 16, in exchange for a conditional sixth-round draft choice, according to sources. The draft pick can become a fourth-round draft choice depending on his playing time.
Huddle Up: Caleb Williams should be the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Bears and likely will be the Week 1 starting quarterback. He probably will have some struggles like most rookie quarterbacks do but has a chance to be at least a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in leagues.
