Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell will "more than likely" be the team's starting quarterback in 2023, head coach Ron Rivera said on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
Huddle Up: With their prospects at quarterback not looking great after the failed Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke experiments, it only makes sense for Washington to give the former fifth-round pick a look in 2023. Howell appeared in just one game in 2022, so the jury is still out on him, but he did look solid in the start. Howell should be rostered in dynasty formats and has a chance to return QB2 value next season.

Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell will likely be the starting quarterback for 2023, the team is telling offensive coordinator candidates, per sources on Saturday, Jan. 14.
Huddle Up: Howell appeared in just one game in his rookie season and was pretty decent, completing 11-of-19 passes for 169 yards and one touchdown to one pick, while also adding five carries for 35 yards in Week 18. The 2022 fifth-round pick might have a fairly clear path to starting work in 2023, as Taylor Heinicke is a free agent and Carson Wentz will almost certainly be cut. Howell is an intriguing fantasy prospect with his added ability to run and should be rostered in dynasty formats.

Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell completed 11-of-19 passes for 169 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 18 against the Dallas Cowboys in his first NFL start, while adding 35 yards and a score on five rushing attempts. He is the first Washington rookie quarterback to throw and rush for a score in a single game since QB Robert Griffin III in 2012.

Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell will get the start in Week 18, head coach Ron Rivera said on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
Huddle Up: With the Commanders being eliminated from playoff contention, the team will be taking a look at the rookie and 2022 fifth-round pick, who has yet to take a snap. Howell obviously shouldn't be in lineups in Week 18; however, he should be rostered in dynasty formats.

Updating an earlier report, Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell is working with the first-team offense Wednesday, Jan. 4.
Huddle Up: Howell is worth a pickup and stash in dynasty formats as he showed some flashes in preseason. However, he's not much of an option in single-year leagues.

Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell will play in Week 18. It's not known if he'll start or he'll spell Taylor Heinicke in the game.
Huddle Up: The fifth-rounder is worth stashing/monitoring in dynasty formats if he's still out there. He showed some flashes in preseason but offers no fantasy luster as far as lineups go.
