Kansas City Chiefs RB Carson Steele is expected to start Week 3's game versus the Atlanta Falcons. He will also have the first opportunity to receive starter carries while RB Isiah Pacheco (leg) is sidelined.
Huddle Up: Steele has nine carries for 27 rushing yards through the first two games of the regular season but can be viewed as a flex option in fantasy leagues for now because of the likely significant increase in playing time. RB Samaje Perine is also expected to see a handful of offensive snaps and RB Kareem Hunt could figure prominently into the Chiefs' running game down the line, although he will not play against Atlanta.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (leg) could be in danger of missing the rest of the season as head coach Andy Reid implied that possibility to reporters Friday, Sept. 20. "I can't give you a time when he'll return. We'll just see if it's this season or next season," Reid said.
Huddle Up: This would be a big change from the 6-8 week timeline that has been reported. It also could make Carson Steele, Kareem Hunt and Samaje Perine potential flex options depending on the rotation.

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (leg) is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday, Sept. 18, to repair his fractured fibula. Head coach Andy Reid said he does not have a timetable for Pacheco's return.
Huddle Up: Pacheco probably will have a chance to return to the lineup at some point during the second half of the season, so fantasy players should look to stash him on their bench if they can. Carson Steele likely will receive a majority of the snaps at running back for the time being and can be at least a flex option in most leagues.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (leg) was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Huddle Up: Pacheco is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Carson Steele figures to get the first crack at lead back duties, but the team also signed Keaontay Ingram to the active roster and Kareem Hunt to the practice squad, and then there's Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who could return in Week 5. Fantasy owners are best off waiting to see how this plays out before deploying any of them in lineups.

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (leg) is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a fractured fibula, according to sources Monday, Sept. 16.

Updating an earlier report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (leg) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list and miss a minimum of four weeks.
Huddle Up: It's safe to say he's going to miss more than that - potentially much more. Samaje Perine and Carson Steele need to be rostered, and they will both be flex candidates in PPR leagues.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (leg) suffered a fractured fibula, based on initial tests, and he will receive further evaluation.
Huddle Up: Carson Steele rushed seven times for 24 yards Sunday, and he'll probably handle the carry load with Samaje Perine taking third downs and passing situations. Perine was likely already owned as a handcuff, but Steele becomes a featured option off of waivers as a flex-type back. Clyde Edwards-Helaire could enter the fold, but he's out at least two more games. As for Pacheco, he's probably going to miss the bulk of the fantasy season, but keep him in an IR spot until a clearer picture is painted.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in the Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Andy Reid said Sunday, Sept. 15, that Pacheco is getting tests and X-rays on his ankle, and he does not know the extent of the injury. While it is not believed to be serious, Pacheco was on crutches and in a walking boot after the game. He rushed for 90 yards on 19 runs with five receptions and 21 yards before departing.
Huddle Up: Pacheco is another player to watch during practice this week. We'll know a lot more Friday about his status for Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night. He is a solid RB2 in most fantasy leagues when healthy. If he cannot go, or is limited due to the injury, Samaje Perine and Carson Steele could benefit from a larger role.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco ran the ball 15 times for 45 yards and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5. He caught two passes (on three targets) for 33 yards.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco is ready to fill the void created by the depature of free-agent RB Jerick McKinnon, according to head coach Andy Reid. "He's ready to be able to do all that," Reid said. "He's good with the protection, he's good with the technique and the fundamentals. He can run all the routes and he has great hands."
Huddle Up: Pacheco's reception total jumped from 13 as a rookie to 44 last season, and with McKinnon out of the picture, that total could climb even higher. He should be in the mix to be a top-10 fantasy back.
