New England Patriots WRs Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, Javon Baker, and Ja'Lynn Polk are likely to have a "spirited competition" for a place on the team's 53-man roster, in the opinion of ESPN's Mike Reiss, who considers WRs Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams, and Mack Hollins to be the top-four receivers. Most NFL teams carry five or six wideouts, in which case the group of Bourne, Boutte, Baker, and Polk could be competing for one or two spots.
Huddle Up: Polk, the 37th overall pick last year, did next to nothing as a rookie, but it'd still be surprising to see the team move on after just one season. That would leave Baker, a fourth-round pick in 2024, Boutte, who trailed only Douglas among the team's wideouts in receiving yardage last year, and Bourne, who was New England's best receiver in 2023, to battle for one spot. Of this foursome, Bourne is the only one that's had a moment in the fantasy sun, though at age 30 and less than two years removed from a torn ACL, his best days may be behind him. Unless injuries thin out the projected top four, nobody here is even worthy of watch-list status.

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte (head) posted seven receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown on his seven targets in Week 18 against the Buffalo Bills before exiting the game with a head injury.
Huddle Up: Boutte, a sixth-round pick in 2023, posted 16 receptions for 240 yards and two touchdowns on 19 targets in the final three games. He saw an increased role down the stretch, and he could be a fantasy sleeper heading into 2025. Sixth-round picks have had a nice history in Foxboro in the past.

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte tallied four catches for 28 yards in the Week 17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Huddle Up: After a career-best game last week, Boutte returned to being an afterthought on Saturday. He can't be trusted in lineups in Week 18.

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte ended up with five receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills.
Huddle Up: Boutte has started to show some signs of life, and he has two or more receptions in three in a row, and seven of the past eight outings. He could very well have a much larger role in 2025, especially if he continues to build rapport with QB Drake Maye.

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte was good for three receptions for 41 yards on six targets in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Huddle Up: Boutte has been seeing a lot more usage in recent games, posting a total of six targets in five of his past six games, while racking up four or more targets in six straight outings. However, the targets still haven't been adding up to a ton of catches or yards, and remains useful only in deeper PPR leagues. The Patriots are off in Week 14.
