Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice "turns into a running back after the catch," according to assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi. "That's a big part of our offense here," Borgonzi said
Huddle Up: Rice could eventually emerge as a major weapon in the Kansas City passing attack, and the long-term upside makes him worth grabbing in the third-round of rookie drafts. That being said, it seems unlikely that he would emerge as a consistent option as a rookie.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice worked with QB Patrick Mahomes ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: The fact that the Chiefs selected Rice after his throwing session with Mahomes seems like a strong endorsement from the reigning MVP. Landing in the Kansas City offense gives Rice immediate potential and long-term upside. He is worth a look in the second round of rookie drafts.

Kansas City Chiefs second-round draft choice WR Rashee Rice is envisioned as a player who can do some of the things that JuJu Smith-Schuster did for the team last season, according to recent comments from general manager Brett Veach. "(Rice) was a guy that the contested catch and the run after the catch really stood out. And we did lose JuJu (Smith-Schuster), so I do think it makes sense to find a guy who can do some of the same things on the inside game. He's almost like a running back after the catch," Veach said.
Huddle Up: Rice was among the best receivers in this draft class on contested catches and should be an immediate factor in the red zone given his size (6-foot-1, 204 pounds), arm length (nearly 33 inches) and vertical jump (41 inches). He led the FBS with 18 catches of 20-plus air yards downfield and also forced 19 missed tackles in 2022. Rice had a few more drops than evaluators would like to see (nine in 2022), but he should be rostered in redraft leagues this season and is a worthy second-round pick in rookie drafts.

Southern Methodist WR Rashee Rice was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 55th overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Rice probably will not have a big impact right away but could see a bigger role in a few years. He should have some value in keeper leagues but can be avoided in most standard leagues.
