Washington Redskins TE Logan Thomas is expected to compete with Jeremy Sprinkle and Richard Rodgers for the starting job at tight end, but Kyle Stackpole of the team's website believes Thomas could be the frontrunner to win the job based on some of the feedback he has received from the new coaching staff. 'Logan Thomas is a guy that we see some glimpses of (Greg Olsen's) type of athletic ability. (Tight ends coach) Pete Hoener ... felt very strongly about this guy's abilities, mostly because he thought he was a very smart and savvy football player, he's a tremendous athlete and he's just learning and getting the position right now,' head coach Ron Rivera said.

Washington Redskins TE Logan Thomas likely will make the final roster in part because the team targeted him in free agency, in the opinion of NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay.

Washington Redskins TE Logan Thomas has tight ends coach Pete Hoener excited about his smarts, savvy and athletic ability, according to head coach Ron Rivera Tuesday, April 7.
Huddle Up: Thomas caught 16 of 28 targets for 173 yards with the Detroit Lions last season. He'll compete with Jeremy Sprinkle and Richard Rodgers for playing time and targets in 2020. Whichever one wins the starting job could be in line for a good number of red-zone targets and will be worth streaming on occasion in standard fantasy formats.

Detroit Lions TE Logan Thomas is a candidate to start at quarterback against the Chicago Bears Thursday, Nov. 28, if QB Jeff Driskel (hamstring) is unable to play. He's the team's emergency QB and will be ready if called upon. 'Nothing's been said to me, but I understand the game plan pretty well,' Thomas said. 'I promise you, if I have to go back there I'm going to just sling it and whatever happens, happens.' Thomas was drafted as a QB by the Arizona Cardinals in 2014.

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said he's excited about the team's options at tight end heading into the 2019 season. 'I think that whole room has been a big upgrade in all ways,' he said. 'From Jesse (James) to T.J. (Hockenson) to Logan (Thomas) ... it's a great group for us to work with to kind of sift through those guys and find out what they're doing well,' said Bevell. 'But that's a talented group. We're really excited about all of those guys.'
Huddle Up: Lions tight ends accounted for just 13 percent of the team's catches in 2019, with Levine Toilolo leading the group with 21. The Lions used the No. 8 pick in the 2019 draft on Hockensen, who made 49 catches for 760 yards and six touchdowns in his final year at Iowa. He's worth little more than a late-round flier but could see work in the red zone. The Lions have a relatively thin receiving corps behind Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones.

Detroit Lions TEs Jesse James (6-foot-7, 261 pounds), T.J. Hockenson (6-foot-5, 251), Michael Roberts (6-foot-5, 265) and Logan Thomas (6-foot-6, 250) all possess the ability to detach from the line of scrimmage and create mismatches, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. Birkett also notes he wouldn't be surprised if the Lions play with three tight ends on the field at times - even outside goal-line or short-yardage situations.
