Oregon QB Bo Nix was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Nix may have a chance to compete for the starting job this upcoming season, so fantasy players can monitor the situation during training camp. He probably should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins the job.

University of Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy is reportedly a player who meets Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton's general requirements for a starting quarterback - outstanding intelligence and the ability to get rid of the ball quickly. According to Sportskeeda's Tony Pauline, there is talk that Payton is ready to give up "a king's ransom" to acquire McCarthy, Louisiana State University QB Jayden Daniels or University of North Carolina QB Drake Maye, with McCarthy being the most realistic option. Furthermore, there is a possibility Payton will be willing to include CB Patrick Surtain II to move up in the draft. Pauline also notes that Denver would consider trading down and taking University of Oregon QB Bo Nix if it cannot move up.
Huddle Up: There is a lot to unpack here, but one would have to believe that Daniels or Maye would have to be the target if Payton is willing to include Surtain in a deal as those two quarterbacks possess a theoretical upside that McCarthy does not. While McCarthy appears to be a better prospect than Nix, the Broncos may be wise to trade down and potentially add some more draft picks after giving up their second-round pick in the Russell Wilson trade in 2022.
