Carolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) won't have his practice window opened this week as he makes his return from the PUP list, head coach Dave Canales told reporters Monday, Sept. 30.
Huddle Up: Brooks is still a stash considering his potential to take over the lead role during the second half of the season. For now, Chuba Hubbard is a strong RB2 option.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (knee), who is currently on the non-football injury list, is eligible to resume practicing in Week 5. Although it is not certain that he will return at that point, it is believed that he is trending in a positive direction.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list Tuesday, Aug. 27, and will miss at least the first four weeks of the season.
Huddle Up: Brooks probably will not earn a solid role in the offense until around the middle of the season, so fantasy players can consider stashing him on their bench if they have space on their roster.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) will not play during the preseason and could start the 2024 campaign on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, head coach Dave Canales said on Saturday, Aug. 3.
Huddle Up: Canales added that they're targeting Week 3 or 4 for Brooks' return, although his placement on the PUP list would keep him out a minimum of four games. This isn't entirely surprising, as the Panthers were always expected to take it slow with Brooks, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in November. Chuba Hubbard figures to be the biggest beneficiary if Brooks is held out after he easily outperformed Miles Sanders in 2023, but he'd be a shaky flex option, at best.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) and LB D.J. Wonnum (quadriceps) do not have timetables for their return, according to general manager Dan Morgan.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list on Friday, July 19.
Huddle Up: This should not come as a surprise, nor does it mean he will not be ready to start the season. With that said, Brooks may not look like the best running back prospect in this draft class until late in the season or 2025 given how late he suffered his torn ACL at the University of Texas last season. He should be considered a high-upside RB3 for now until more is known about his situation.

Carolina Panthers second-round draft choice RB Jonathon Brooks, third-round draft choice LB Trevin Wallace, fourth-round draft choice TE Ja'Tavion Sanders, CB Chau Smith-Wade, sixth-round draft choice DT Jaden Crumedy and seventh-round draft choice LB Michael Barrett signed four-year contracts with the Panthers Thursday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Texas RB Jonathon Brooks was selected by the Carolina Panthers with the 46th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Brooks probably will share playing time with Chuba Hubbard during his rookie season and could take over the starting job at some point. He can be a No. 3 or No. 4 running back in some leagues and could be a flex option some weeks.

University of Texas RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) is "a good player" who is "high, high (on our board)," according to Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones.
Huddle Up: Jones also expressed on Thursday how much of an impression Brooks made on him when the team interviewed him recently. It is one thing for a team picking at the top of the second round to be so open about its desire to take a player, but Dallas' first pick in the second round - barring a trade-up - will not happen until No. 56. If the Cowboys ultimately select Brooks, it sounds increasingly likely he will share the backfield with Ezekiel Elliott when he is fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered last November.
