Huddle Up: Montgomery has shown virtually no ability to stay healthy as a pro. He will be on the shelf for at least four weeks with this injury. This is the exact scenario that Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson needed, as both backs need regular work in the passing game in order to be consistent RB2 options in fantasy. Montgomery's absence should make that more of a reality.

New England Patriots RB Ty Montgomery (ankle) has "a shot" to play in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, according to head coach Bill Belichick.

Huddle Up: This news is less important for Montgomery and more important for Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris. Montgomery is expected to take on at least some of the work in the passing game for the Patriots, although it remains unclear if he will be limited to two-minute work. Belichick recently made it sound like Stevenson and Harris might have their own series and operate as the featured back on those series. Expect Montgomery to play just enough to keep both backs from being clear every-week fantasy starters.

Huddle Up: He was an RB5 possibility, but this may knock him out of such consideration. Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson will likely see more looks in the interim.

New England Patriots RB Ty Montgomery (ankle) suffered an ankle injury and did not return to the game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday, Aug. 26.

Huddle Up: Montgomery has emerged as the team's most likely option to replace the retired James White with his work in camp this month. However, one of Montgomery's biggest issues as a pro has been his inability to stay healthy. If this injury turns out to be serious, it is worth noting head coach Bill Belichick recently suggested that Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson could both be used as three-down backs - something that would make bump both players into low-end RB2 consideration.
