Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett saw reps with the third-string offense during mandatory minicamp, per The Athletic's Mark Kaboly.
Huddle Up: This is a bad sign for Pickett's chances of being the starter when 2022 begins, but it was always figured Mitch Trubisky would get the nod. This also opens the door for Mason Rudolph to secure the backup spot over the first-round pick. Pickett is a first-round pick in dynasty rookie drafts but isn't a viable option in re-draft leagues. Trubisky is a QB2 thanks to his dual-threat ability.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky said he is comfortable with the offense and is preparing as if he will be the starting quarterback this upcoming season.
Huddle Up: Trubisky will be competing with Kenny Pickett for the job during training camp but may have a slight edge since he has started in the NFL in the past. Fantasy players can monitor the situation, but neither option is more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky was "the clear No. 1 QB" during minicamp, according to Dale Lolley of DK Pittsburgh Sports.
Huddle Up: This should not be considered a surprise. Trubisky has accomplished more as a pro than either Mason Rudolph or rookie Kenny Pickett. While there is a chance Trubisky is more than a bridge quarterback - he was likely a victim of the play-calling in Chicago - the clock is already ticking on him as a starter with the team having spent a first-round pick on Pickett. Trubisky's rushing ability gives him fantasy upside, but his job security figures to be weak at best.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky has been working with the first-team offense during offseason workouts.
Huddle Up: Trubisky will be competing with Kenny Pickett for the starting job during training camp. Neither quarterback is more than a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky's two-year contract worth $26 million reportedly contains about $12 million in incentives based on playing time and playoff incentives, according to SI.com's Albert Breer.
Huddle Up: Trubisky's playing time incentives begin at 60 percent of playing time, which suggests the Steelers will be incentivized to turn to first-round pick Kenny Pickett sooner than later - especially if the two players are nearly even during training camp. In other words, Trubisky is highly unlikely to start past October unless Pickett gets hurt - and that assumes the veteran is even able to beat out the rookie over the summer.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Chase Claypool ranks in the top 20 in the NFL in average depth of target over his first two seasons, and QB Mitchell Trubisky has a 46.6 completion percentage on throws that travel more than 10 yards.
Huddle Up: Trubisky's history suggests that he isn't the quarterback to take advantage of Claypool's big-play ability, and it is hard to imagine Claypool delivering consistent production this season. Target him as a WR4.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky signed with the Steelers this offseason, but general manager Kevin Colbert said the team is still willing to select a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Trubisky likely will be the team's starting quarterback for the next year or two, but the team could select their quarterback of the future during the draft. Trubisky should be a No. 2 QB in fantasy leagues next season.
