Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 28-of-39 passes for 331 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints, and he rushed six times for 22 yards.
Huddle Up: The passing yardage total is fine, but with zero touchdowns either through the air or on the ground, it was just an OK performance from a fantasy perspective. The Chiefs are off in Week 6, so you'll need to make alternate plans.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 19 of his 29 passes for 245 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a 17-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. He also rushed five times for 12 yards.
Huddle Up: Mahomes has been putting up pedestrian numbers, and he could be without Rashee Rice going forward. He needs to be viewed as a QB2 for fantasy purposes.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 26 of 39 passes for 217 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 22. Mahomes also finished with 17 yards on six rushing attempts, though three of those were kneel downs at the end of the game.
Huddle Up: It was a modest step in the right direction for Mahomes, though he and the team continue to struggle to finish drives. That included a 21-yard field goal attempt and an interception in the end zone. Perhaps a related story is that Mahomes and Travis Kelce have yet to get on the same page with Rashee Rice clearly functioning as KC's top target right now. A trip to Los Angeles to face the Chargers is up next. Mahomes seems to always put up big numbers against the Bolts -- in their lone matchup last year, he threw for 424 yards and 4 TDs -- so be sure he stays in your lineup.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes finished 18-of-25 for 151 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Mahomes also rushed for 29 yards on four carries.
Huddle Up: The 151 yards are the fewest Mahomes has thrown for in any game he started and finished. The first two games are not what fantasy managers have become accustomed to with Mahomes, but the Baltimore Ravens (Week 1) have a good defense and the Bengals have typically played him tough under defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. Week 3 does not figure to be an easy game either versus the Atlanta Falcons, but few quarterbacks can overcome a difficult matchup like Mahomes.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes went 20-for-28 for 291 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5. Mahomes also ran twice for three yards and caught his own deflected pass for a two-yard gain.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff absorbed a league-high 69 hits while throwing a pass in 2023, according to Pro Football Reference. Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (65) was the only other quarterback to be hit more than 60 times.
Huddle Up: The 69 hits are 16 more than he absorbed in 2022. The Lions arguably upgraded what was already a very good offensive line with the addition of Kevin Zeitler during the offseason, so the number of hits Goff takes in 2024 should decrease by a decent amount. Goff is generating some early league MVP buzz and has the supporting cast to enjoy his finest season to date if he can stay healthy. He isn't much of a run threat, but Detroit's offense might be so good that he could finish as a top-five fantasy quarterback anyway.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes had only 13% of his completed passes go at least 20 yards in the air last season, which was the lowest percentage of his career.
Huddle Up: Mahomes received help this offseason with the addition of Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy, so he should take more deep shots this upcoming season. He should still be a No. 1 quarterback in all leagues even if he does not significantly throw more deeper passes.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes said the team will push the ball downfield more in 2024. "This is probably the most comfortable I think I've felt of just being able to not let something affect me," Mahomes said. "When you go up against [Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo in practice], you're not going to be right 100% of the time, and there's been times where I've lost on blitzes and Spags gets me with the new pressure that he's working on, and I think it's just being able to get the ball out of my hand, get it to the checkdown or wherever that is and then live to play another play."
Huddle Up: As outlandish as it sounds on the outside looking in, Mahomes was disappointment in fantasy ending up as the QB8. He should improve upon that, granted that his receivers are able to get open and hang on to the ball. However, the position has deepened, and it's not as top-heavy. Be careful overdrafting him, but he's a top-three consideration.
