Baltimore Ravens TE Durham Smythe said on a podcast that his familiarity with new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle's system was a major factor in choosing the team in the free agency process, and "kind of a no-brainer". He added that working with TE Mark Andrews heading up the tight ends' room was important, too. "Being able to come in and work with Mark a little bit, I think it was a perfect situation for me," Smythe said.
Huddle Up: The veteran isn't likely to step into a major offensive role, attempting to fill the void of the departed Isaiah Likely. He'll more than likely be more of a blocking tight end with occasional targets. For fantasy purposes, think more along the lines of the value of Charlie Kolar in past seasons, with his value limited to the deepest of leagues only.
