The Jacksonville Jaguars will play their starters, including QB Trevor Lawrence and RB Travis Etienne, for a couple of series in the preseason opener on Friday, Aug. 12, head coach Doug Pederson said on Wednesday, Aug. 10. However, RB James Robinson (Achilles) and WR Laviska Shenault Jr. (hamstring) will not play.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles') will not open training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Huddle Up: That's good news as the last report we saw in June was that he might not be ready for camp. And he still may not be, but it wouldn't be a long enough absence the team decided to PUP him. If Travis Etienne is healthy, though, Robinson will likely have his role heavily affected. It's hard to advise taking him higher than RB3 in fantasy.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) was called a "three-down back" by head coach Doug Pederson back in March, according to SI.com's John Shipley.
Huddle Up: It's hard to put much stock into something a new coach said about an injured player back in March without more context, but it does suggest Pederson understands how important Robinson has been to the offense in his two seasons with the club. While Travis Etienne looks to be the clear lead back in Jacksonville for the early part of the 2022 given the seriousness of Robinson's injury, the latter could end up becoming a huge bargain in fantasy drafts if he is able to regain his usual explosiveness around November.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) is "not likely" to be ready for training camp, John Reid of the Florida Times-Union reported on Friday, June 17. "Etienne returning to full speed has a special significance considering starting running back James Robinson continues to rehab from a torn Achilles' tendon and is not likely to be ready for next month's training camp," Reid wrote.
Huddle Up: It remains to be seen if Robinson will be ready by the time the regular season rolls around, but that will be determined by how quickly he gets involved in training camp. If Robinson isn't ready for the start of 2022, that would be a significant boost for Travis Etienne, who could cement himself as a low-end RB1 in Robinson's absence.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) refused to give a timetable for his return to the field from a torn Achilles' tendon suffered in 2021. "When I'm ready, I'll be ready. You guys know," he said on Wednesday, June 15. Head coach Doug Pederson has previously stated Robinson could be ready for training camp.
Huddle Up: Robinson has been the lead dog in Jacksonville's backfield the past two seasons but may not be himself in his first season back from such a serious injury, and he's expected to cede at least some work to Travis Etienne, who is also coming back from injury. Until we see how this situation shakes out, Robinson is an RB3 with upside.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) has resumed running on the field as he continues his rehab, according to his representation.
Huddle Up: Robinson has been the focal point of the Jacksonville running game in his two seasons in the league, but his injury and the return of Travis Etienne could lead to a decline in production in 2022. Assuming he is ready for the start of the season, Robinson should be viewed as a RB3 or flex option.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) is not expected to be back on the field until training camp, according to head coach Doug Pederson.
Huddle Up: Robinson is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon injury and may be limited early in the 2022 season. There is a decent chance that he will share snaps with Travis Etienne next season but could still be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy back.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 27.
Huddle Up: Robinson has been one of football's feel-good stories since going undrafted last spring, so he'll get another chance to add another chapter to his story this offseason. He doesn't have to look any further than Cam Akers for encouragement after the Los Angeles Rams' running back was able to get through his rehab from a torn Achilles in about six months. While Robinson has youth on his side, he still faces long odds to return to the form in 2022 that he displayed in his first two seasons. It could also create a path for some unexpected heavy lifting from Travis Etienne (foot) early next season.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (Achilles) suffered an Achilles tendon injury during the Week 16 game and will not return.
Huddle Up: It looks like Robinson may have suffered a significant injury during the game, so fantasy players should look for an option in the next day or two. Dare Ogunbowale could receive most of the work while Robinson and Carlos Hyde are sidelined and could be a flex option in leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 24, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.
Huddle Up: Robinson is coming off a productive Week 15 game and will see plenty of touches this week against the New York Jets. He can be considered at least a No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.
