San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel is unlikely to be a "focal point of the offensive unit like he once was," in the opinion of ESPN's Nick Wagoner, who writes that the team is expected to "lean on [Samuel's] versatility and hope that his threat can open things up for their other playmakers."
Huddle Up: Samuel, who will turn 31 in January, has averaged 804 yards and 5 TDs over the last two seasons, and it would be overly optimistic to expect much beyond that in 2026. The fact that the 49ers are willing to use Samuel as their full-time returner provides some insight into how they view his role on offense -- suffice to say, if they were going to feature Samuel, they'd almost certainly look to limit his work on special teams. At best, you can consider using a late-round pick on Samuel, though a spot on your watch list might be a better choice.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel was limited to about 10 snaps in team drills Saturday, Aug. 1.
Huddle Up: While it remains to be seen if Samuel will carve out a significant role in the San Francisco offense, the injury to Ricky Pearsall could help his chances. Samuel is worth keeping an eye on as camp progresses, but he is no more than a late-round flyer at this point.

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel is expected to be a kick returner for the team this season but said he does not expect to have a definite role right away in the offense.
Huddle Up: Samuel should see some touches during games this season, but fantasy players should monitor training camp to see how the 49ers will use him. He can be a late round pick in fantasy leagues but is unlikely to be a starting option most weeks.

Free-agent WR Deebo Samuel (Commanders) is signing with the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal worth $7 million, according to sources.
Huddle Up: While Samuel probably won't be able to reach the same level of production that he did in his first tenure with San Francisco, he has shown he can have success in the 49ers' offense. The signing could also be an indication that Ricky Pearsall's knee injury could be a lingering issue.

Free-agent WR Deebo Samuel (Commanders) said he is looking to continue his playing career and will be ready to play once the right opportunity comes around.
Huddle Up: Samuel should receive interest during training camp since teams will likely lose receivers to injury and look to add Samuel. He will see a handful of touches this season with his new team but is unlikely to be a starting option most weeks.

Washington Commanders WR Deebo Samuel ended up with two receptions for 20 yards on five targets in Week 18 against the Philadelphia Eagles, while running twice for a single yard.
Huddle Up: Samuel wrapped up his first season with the Commanders posting 72 receptions, 99 targets, 727 receiving yards, five TD catches, 17 carries, 75 rushing yards and a rushing score. Considering that there was a QB turnstile, with Jayden Daniels injured for large chunks of the season, it was a decent season. He'll be back as at least a WR4 or flex fantasy option heading into 2026.

Washington Commanders WR Deebo Samuel caught two passes for 68 yards on four targets against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17. He also rushed for 25 yards on two carries during the game.
Huddle Up: Samuel had been held to under 45 yards in the previous three games but was able to have some success against the Cowboys. He should see a handful of targets next week and can be at least a flex option in fantasy leagues.

Washington Commanders WR Deebo Samuel caught three of his four targets for 35 yards in a 29-18 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16.
Huddle Up: Samuel is averaging just 35 receiving yards per game over his last three contests. Whether it is the return of Terry McLaurin or the injuries at quarterback, Samuel's production has certainly dipped recently. He is more of a flex play at this point.

Washington Commanders WR Deebo Samuel caught three of his five targets for 43 yards in a 29-21 win over the New York Giants in Week 15.
Huddle Up: Samuel has been a safe bet for five-plus targets a game, but his production has fluctuated wildly. His usage will keep him in the WR3 mix, but Samuel does have some bust potential.

Washington Commanders WR Deebo Samuel (illness) is active for Week 15's game against the New York Giants.
Huddle Up: Samuel had been added to the injury report with a questionable designation after missing practice due to a minor illness Friday, Dec. 12. He is one of Washington's main targets in their passing game and can be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.
