Atlanta Falcons QB Desmond Ridder was blitzed on only 90 of his drop backs this past season.

The Atlanta Falcons are in the process of deciding whether to bring back QBs Taylor Heinicke and Desmond Ridder next season or bring in a new quarterback via draft, free agency or trade. Meanwhile, last season's third-string quarterback, Logan Woodside, is a restricted free agent. Head coach Raheem Morris and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson have said that all options are on the table in the search for a starter and that they are open to considering both pocket passers and more mobile players.
Huddle Up: Both Heinicke and Ridder were inconsistent and ineffective last season and there's a possibility that one or both quarterbacks could be suiting up elsewhere by the beginning of the 2024 campaign. Neither player is expected to have much value in any fantasy format going forward.

Atlanta Falcons QB Desmond Ridder could be a trade candidate whenever the team acquires a new quarterback, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network on Monday, Feb. 12. "Once they acquire a new QB, potentially trading Ridder would be an option, as well. It might be a situation where a fresh start works for all parties," Rapoport said.
Huddle Up: Ridder was the QB22 last season, averaging 11.5 fantasy points per game. Atlanta will look for a new quarterback under the new regime, and it's unlikely Ridder will have fantasy value moving forward.

Atlanta Falcons QB Desmond Ridder went 22-for-30 for 291 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the New Orleans Saints in Week 18.

Atlanta Falcons QB Desmond Ridder will start Week 18's game against the New Orleans Saints.
Huddle Up: Ridder has been benched multiple times this season due to inconsistent play but is receiving the start this afternoon because QB Taylor Heinicke, who hasn't been much better, is dealing with an ankle injury. At best, Ridder should be viewed as a desperation play in two-quarterback fantasy leagues.

Atlanta Falcons QB Taylor Heinicke (ankle) is dealing with an ankle injury, and his availability for Week 18 will not be known until later in the week, according to head coach Arthur Smith. QB Desmond Ridder will start if Heinicke is unavailable to play.
Huddle Up: Fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation to see if Heinicke will be able to do anything during practice this week. Neither Heinicke nor Ridder have posted great numbers this season, so players can avoid both.

Atlanta Falcons QB Taylor Heinicke will start over QB Desmond Ridder in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Huddle Up: Heinicke showed flashes with Washington a couple of years ago, but he hasn't been able to muster much in fantasy since. He's a desperation QB2 play.

Atlanta Falcons QB Desmond Ridder may have lost his starting role as head coach Arthur Smith said the team is still working through that decision Monday, Dec. 18. Smith said it will be between Ridder and Taylor Heinicke in Week 16.
Huddle Up: Ridder is coming off a rough performance in the loss to the Carolina Panthers. He's scored double-digit fantasy points just once in the last four games. Heinicke wasn't much of an option for fantasy in his two games as a starter this season so it's best to avoid whichever player will get the start in Week 16.

Atlanta Falcons QB Desmond Ridder completed 12-of-20 passes for 152 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons, while running five times for minus-2 yards.
