Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks "has really grown up" this offseason, according to general manager Ran Carthon. "I think Treylon has really grown up. He sent us a picture during the offseason, this little break here, showing his new physique. He came in and he really took to heart the conversation that he had with myself and coach (Brian Callahan). And he's completely bought in. I've messaged with him throughout the offseason and I think he's in a really good spot. ... So I'm expecting things from him and just his unselfishness. I know there was some talk about him taking gunner reps (on special teams), but that was because he wanted to. He wants to prove that he can stay healthy and play top-level football," Carthon told Turron Davenport of ESPN.
Huddle Up: Regardless of how much Burks has grown up over the last few weeks, he is not going to overtake Calvin Ridley or DeAndre Hopkins, so his best shot at playing time is to push Tyler Boyd for work in the slot. That also seems like an unlikely path given Callahan's ties to Boyd from their time together in Cincinnati, but a motivated Burks is talented enough to do it. Burks will not need to be drafted in most fantasy leagues, but he is someone managers in deeper leagues should monitor closely after the start of the season.

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks will need to prove himself as a contributor on special teams to make the game day roster if he is not named as a full-time starter, according to head coach Brian Callahan.
Huddle Up: In other words, he will need to beat out Tyler Boyd for slot duties because he isn't going to bump Calvin Ridley or DeAndre Hopkins out of the lineup. Getting the nod ahead of Boyd does not have a great chance of happening, which is probably one reason why the team was trying him out as a gunner on Tuesday. Burks needs multiple players to miss games this season if he has any hopes of becoming a productive player in Tennessee.

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks is expected to be able to play "a good role" for the team this season despite the recent additions of Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, according to head coach Brian Callahan. "We've made very clear to Treylon that the signing of Tyler isn't about him. It's about helping our team get better. Adding better players to our team. Making us a competitive football team. What he's done and how he's worked has been great. I'm anticipating him still being able to play a good role for us. ... You (have) to have guys that can play roles. That hasn't changed. It doesn't change anything for Treylon as far as what we're expecting from him and what I'm hopeful that he's able to bring to the offense. We communicated that to him. He's aware that (signing Boyd) is not about him," Callahan said.
Huddle Up: It is notable that Callahan made a point to say that Boyd's addition was "not about Burks," but the reality is that he will be the fourth receiver at best in this offense. Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins are firmly entrenched as the top two options in the passing game barring injury, while Callahan also noted that Boyd is a "fantastic" slot receiver. As a result, Burks likely profiles as no more than a high-upside stash in deep leagues who may get occasional use as a gadget player barring an injury to the top three receivers on the roster.
